From what ive read the stock turbo's max out around 16-17psi and have also read t3s can go up to 25psi easily and picked up very cheaply. How come i've never heard of any Z guys swapping to them?

t04e turbos on american ebay for $150 which ship to UK, they sound good... Just wanting to know why people choose which turbos and some thoughts on some of the common ones...

there are a few different types that are more commonly used, the aim to increase boost but maintain drivability , remember the old turbo fords and the turbo lag ..nothing ..nothing ..nothing..WALLOP !! oversized turbo application.....the disco potatoo is the most commonly used ...but keep in mind if your upping the boost then you are significantly uping the temps and loads on the engine so without forged intenals and supporting mods its not going to last too long.....i went for power enterprises PE1420 in the middle of installing now so will let you know how they perform they are rated for nearly 600bhp ( im looking for around a roadable 450 ) but will have it mapped for tourque as top speed does not interest me

They might go to 25psi but how much air do they push out?

Its the volume of air at 25psi thats important. You can run a turbo the size of a wallnut at 100psi but there still wont be enough volume to run a stock zed ;)

Right well im still learning :) What is the verdict on the t04e's??? From what i've read they spool up quick, are bigger than our standard tubs and can handle more pressure, so a good upgrade for less than $300 shipped each? (of course have to uprate injects and consider engine internals + cooling)

forget t3 you want a t28 super hybrid. like the ones Norris design sell,

i got one second hand for my old S13 and it was the best turbo I've ever seen, loads of boost and nearly zero lag, on top of that would need no modifications to manifolds as its the same flange and you can get 5 bolt elbows for the zed from the us.

tbh i got mine for 250 s/h hardly any miles on it, i agree they are not worth the asking price, but they are really good turbos,

and as for buying ebay turbos not worth it at all, they are normally bad quality or not built right, particularly at that price...

if you want a cheaper option a pair of S14 turbos the normal T28 you can get them cheap s/h just get them rebuilt,

i bought an ebay turbo before it didn't fit the car it was meant to, and when i finally got it to fit (after having to re drill the flange) the thing seized within a couple of months...

Definitely don't want any of that cheap c*** on ebay it will cost you more in the long run, with inferior quality

i'll buy it at christmas, and claim its a gift ;)

unless its coming from a residential address to a residential address customs wont give a toss if its a gift :) oh and under the value of £ 50 (anything over that they charge import tax regardless of it being a gift) , so if it gets damaged and your value is £50 then your screwed, all you can do is hope and pray you dont get stung you cant avoid tax without risks and usually the risks are not worth it

:D ex FedEx customs operative :D

I thought the S14 had different studs?

they do they have a 5 bolts on the exhaust housing instead of 4 but the manifold to turbo flange is the same, i know Z1 do 5 bolt turbo elbows for the Z, but most upgrade turbo's have different elbows, T3 depending on brand are very different, even T25 use the 5 bolt.

(i've got most of my old S13's engine in my garage including a few of the old turbos, i've been thinking of fitting a pair of T28H from a pulsar gtir only have 1 tubby at the mo and it needs rebuilding but appears to fit if i had the 5 bolt elbows Z1 sell) here they are they are fairly expensive and i dont know of anywhere in the uk that sells them... anyone? http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_19&products_id=75

if you look at the turbos Z1 sell for reference the bigger turbos use the same 5 bolt as the other Nissans... http://www.z1motorsports.com/index.php?cPath=6_16&sort=6a&page=1
