My favourite red on any car is actually a ford red called Candy Apple. Its absolutely gorgeous, really nice deep, metallic red

Lovely colour that Janus has put up, heres a Supra in a similar shade

Pretty much all the candy colours are nice, Lukes is well cool.

They nearly all use a silver base though and if you've the money and fancy going 1 step further, use a chrome base, it's ubber sexy and the candy can become a chrome red or black or blue etc.

The body shop doing yours won't have used this system as very few have and the paint is imported, plus it means spraying gloss black, then chrome then the top coat which is actually a coloured laquer, but if you fancy something unique, it's the way to go :-)

Hi Steve,

Mazda do a red that looks like flat red but when the sun hits it it lights up as it has a metalic flake.

velocity red as on the rx8 ,its a pearl

That is a really nice colour. don't really think it suits the Z though for some reason.

I'm with you on this one, I'd most definately go for the standard Nissan red.

after owning the car for 6 years and after being sprayed a custom flat red from the nissan flat red when i first got it, i have decided to modernise the car a little with a fresh coat of lexus Mattador red Mica...i cant post any pics up of the colour as our firewall blocks photobucket etc so if anybody wants to post up a pic of the colour go ahead as i cant really demonstrate it .. :( think it will look nice with the wide ass kit going on

I was going to go for the candy red, but decided to go against it due to colour match, if you have a paint problem or any paintwork done it will almost be imposible to re match the original candy colour. If you want it to be right you will have to paint the whole car again.

I just thought you should know this, the same applys to flip and special finish paints

Thanks Alan

i did speak to the body shop guys they have said that as its a mica finish ( very small metalic particles ) and a standard colour on lexus it should be easy enough to match if anything bad occurs , your point is the main reason i went off the candy apple red as getting the base coat right again then the clear candy on top it would never colour match properly ... Jeff is keeping an eye on it for me
