Guys looking at replacing my standard d/pipies for some nice divorced s/steel ones.

After looking at it from below, looks like (f***all access this way)and talking to Andy (Ish) I have been told that it is doable from attacking it from above and the underside.

Has anyone done this with the engine in place? if so apart from growing arms like MR Tickle,

could anyone give any usefull pointers. If it helps I will be removing the plenum later on so that should be easier right? :hammer:

thanks H

Its possible however if the nuts have been in place a while it possible to get a couple sheared. Drivers side you need some extensions to get in and good hands get all 4 from below and i think its easier to get starter motor out the way.

Passenger side get from above and below remove battery and get down that way quite easy that side.

I fitted some a few years ago , N/S is easier as you can take the battery out to give you some access , the O/S was a bit more of a job , ended up knealing on top of the engine having took the bonnet off and reaching down to get to the top bolts , lost a bit of skin in the process but luckily all the nuts and bolts came undone easily . You do know that with excessive use of liquid gasket you run the risk of squeezing it into the tube when tightening and then blocking the flow? you should only use a small amount, and why are you using liquid sealant with a cardboard gasket? should be one or the other.

the gasket paper i got was too thin, talking about the oil flow i made sure id didnt get there most of the silicon came out of the housing, i made two and then siliconed it between eachothers, and cleaned the surface well and its a terible job to get it of again and again for the oil leak, from the leak i can see the ammount of oil pressure i have in teh car a good sign lol but was well annoyed on the second attemp and third finally all done good and proper lol
