My wife and I are going to London Town for a consultation (£100.00 each) with a view to having our eyes laser corrected.

It is a leading guy at Moorfields  Mr Julian Stevens :thumbup1:

It might be a bit pricier than a more local clinic but this is our eyes here and I am not scrimping. Expect it might be around 3k each :sweatdrop::sweatdrop:

Any other guys had it done?

How much you paid?

Are you happy?

Where did you have it done?

Happy to read any comments you wish to divulge

I had mine done about five years ago at my local bupa hospital, paid £2K and it has been fantastic, hurt like hell for a few days though.

do you need to get it done again a few years down the line? would make my life easier, I've got glasses but dont wear them. I can see ok most of the time but road signs at night might as well be roast chickens cos I cant see them lol

im 22 they said i may need reading glasses in later life 40`s they said, i paid 3K for both eyes, it was not a nice experience il tell you that but well worth it!!

I went for the test yesterday.

£2400, or £1590 without some part of it. I said i cant afford it at the moment, so they said £1200 all in.

To good to be true or not? My sight is only 1.25% out, but i have astigmatism.

All these adverts that say 'from £300 per eye' - all your prices seem way off that? is that just an advertising ploy to reel you in?!

I had mine down 4 years ago and was the best thing I have ever bought ( well except the z obviously). I paid around 3k in total from Ultralase for both eyes. I was suppose to have it done in Chester but there air con wasnt working so they paid for a taxi for me to go to Manchester. The whole process only lasted around 10 minutes and personally I felt no pain at all during the treatment. Definitely take sunglasses with you for when you have it done though as the light is a bit more sensitive on your eyes. The next day I could see perfectly as well. My eyes were -7.0 for my left and -7.5 for my right so pretty dreadful really. Would definitely recommend it if your vision is quite poor.

guys guys guys, if you go to india you can get it done for around 350 each eye at top private hospitals. at first glance you may say that you are unsure about indian hospitals, but i tell you something, the private indian hospitals are among the best in the world with the most expertise doctors and most of them are as good if not better than private uk hospitals and doctors. Do the research yourselves and see. there are also top places in turkey and iran. I havent done the laser thing myself but my friend went to india and did it this summer and he only spent £600 and his eyes are perfect.

Did you have lasek or lasak?

maybe that dodgy doctor from the simpsons doin the op!

I went for the lasik. Didnt feel any pain at all throughout the process. It was more of a an odd sensation really. The after surgery care was very good from Ultralase as well with constant check ups. Think it may even be a lifetime guarantee as well with them which as pretty good as your eyes will deteriorate when you get into your 40's regardless

nice video Ian!

I thought so too, the guys anointment's were a nice touch as well, because he explains what hes feeling and everything

got a free consultation last week with optical express., im -6.50 both eyes so pretty bad, they are quoting me 2100 both eyes, and advised me to get lasek as i do some boxing and they say there will be no side effects.

3 people i know who work with me have got it done at this same place this year and all have 20/20 vision. so im definatly going for it early next year.

Having put £3k as a guess for each, for my wife and I in the lead post, it was a lot lot more, she needed more work and was not straight forward for her, mine alone was £3,800.00, just for a basic zapping

I can see the smallest of small print without my glasses now but distance I struggle, the surgeon told me though that after the procedure I would have near 20/20 vision.

So we have put it on hold for the time being.

Currently moving house so that is the priority at the moment, then we will look again

I got mine done end of November.

Hurt like **** for a few days.

Had 20/20 vision within a week.

My eyes now sometimes feel tired more so than i before, but maybe im sleeping less!

I'd do it again.

Went with Optimax and paid £1200

My girlfriend had it done around 18 months ago - all went well for a while but during the healing process her eyes went back so after many check ups they agreed to do a top up procedure. Due to the increased risks they would only do one eye at a time, so about 4-5 months ago back we went & she had the worst eye redone. Its still not right & we went back last week & they are now looking at having it done a 3rd time :pinch:

They want to wait another 6-12 months to get an absolute stable reading & she is not sure she wants to go through it all another time especially as there is still a chance it may not work correctly.

We paid around £3,500 for the top treatment for her.

To be fair she had a plus prescription & it was at the end of the scale for what they would treat. Plus prescription isharder to correct & we was aware that the results were a lot harder to predict but all in all it has not been a good experience for her

Hers is probably only around 1% of all treatment cases in the fact that she has to go back a third time - around 5% need a follow up treatment.

Risks increase each time & cell growth is possible under the flap on the following retreatments & there is the possibility of having to have the flap lifted to clean this out

I dont think I would ever have it done after her experience! :surrender:

I heard more horror stories than good when i was looking in to it.

Think thats what put me off doing it for so long.

Id had enough of contact lens and my nippa smashed my glasses, i thought nows the time.

I did all my homework first, the risks are a low percentage really.

They do thousands of them.

My eyes were only 1% out tho..

Sorry to hear your tale  this is what puts me off and the reason I have gone certainly 20 years of putting it off

You mention 'they', where is it you are going?

Finally, please update this thread with your further treatments, always good to hear :cool3:
