im getting a really weird grinding sound in overdrive at about 50mph and when i disengage overdrive it goes also when im at low speed between 20 to 30 mph i get the same grinding does anybody have any clues if it is the box or could it be something else like drive shaft maybe ?:blushing:

Well first port of call would be, where is the sound originating from? as it could be a few things. if its coming from what sounds like the gear box area. then the next thing to do would be.....

 

empty the gear box oil and see if there are any metal shards / shavings in the oil, if no fill up with fresh oil and see if that cured your problem. most likely box is on its way out. but you never know with these cars.

thanks mate i will look further into the problem one thing i will say though is that the gear oil was low but i have topped it back up but still the same issue i have taken further advise since making my initial posting with the answer of it could be the torque converter or possibly the valve pack in the box who knows hey :)?
