Ecu resetting is done by leaving the battery off for 1 hour, doubt you would need to for a exhaust change. but may as well as its not complicated to do.

hi ian,

ok i have a 98 z and my friend has a 99z, is the ecu diagnostic still carried out in the same way as that of a 96?

is indeed matey. little screw on the side of the ECU, turn it fully clockwise, wait 2 seconds then turn fully counter clock wise. then instead of straining your neck trying to read the flashing light on the side. check the dash at the engine management light. that will flash

First number = long flash

second number = short flash

5x long and 5x short, code 55 all clear.

If there are more than one error codes. it will flash them one after the other so pay attention as it does cycle through them and then repeats them

If you don't have code 55, jot them down and post them up, ill let you know what circuit that's showing the fault. do the code check before resetting the ECU. if you do get a fault. reset the ECU, take the car for a drive. and then recheck to see if the code has come back.

ok thanks mate im gna try that now, i was reading ur other post on it as well.

Good luck with it matey. lemme know how you get on.

Your in luck pretty easy to get to, remove the throttle cable cover and its accessible, will most likely have to remove the coil pack connector as well

Or pretty sure you can do it simply with a Conzult which I have ;)

cool thanks for your help man, did you contact the guy in birmingham?

was a bit busy today, going to ring him tomorrow.

and also do you know where to get a new fuel temp sensor pls? i checked z centre but they dont have it.

thanks

Best place would be Zedworld in tamsworth for something like that. im sure Jeff would be able to sort you out, failing that try MJP in the traders section.
