Can someone enlighten me as to why the front tyres seem to be a 40 profile and the rears a 35? Aesthetically it would look better with a shallower profile on the front, is there a particular reason the fronts have a deeper profile?

Featured Replies

The 40/30 is a % of the tyre width, feel free to buy a couple of lower profile tyres for the front :tt2:

On a slightly off topic note, drove the car in the wet today and it shook its ass like Shakira on heat. Can rubbish rubber be purely to blame?

Have you got decent tyres on the 'new' wheels? I'm pretty sure it's down to the tyres on mine.

As said the profile is a percentage of the width, not a direct measurement.

The Z tends to have wider rear tyres with a lower profile percentage to keep it matching the fronts.

As for traction issues, tyres will be the biggest factor, but plenty of other reasons - such as Worn Hicas rack bushes (or any other suspension bushing), Worn Rear dampners, incorrect suspension geometry ...etc.

Most Z's out there are running around on hidesouly worn suspension components.

When it was pointed out to me, that was my response (but I wasn't certain) but the rears look quite a bit shallower. It's all in the detail :chinese:

Just seen your edit. I've just had all new suspension fitted. MeisterR coilovers and adjustable arms fitted and alligned by silverbullet.

got me some new rubber going on tomorrow! Decent tread on my current ones doesnt stop them being total cack in the wet.

Although Yowsers comments about replacing worn bushes is next on my list of things to do - Are tension rod bushings and hicas rack bushings the main ones or are there others i should consider?
