its on film 4 and what always amazes me and its the same as the starwars films is that it was made in 1979, that was the year i was born and im 31, the fx in the film are great, granted they are not as good as they are these days but ive seen worse from upto date films, it could have easily have been made in recent years

What i like is the very good use of models and sets, rather than heavy CGI graphics. the ships look more real than that of the ones in the New starwars (just as a comparison) bloody hell stellaz didn't know i was one year older than you. thought you were 35 lol

agreed - I think older films are just so much better in terms of content and creativity. I think Alien 1 and Terminator 1 are the best in their respective series. On a side note I watched The Thing yesterday, one of my favourite horrors, and it is INFINITELY better than any of the horror teen-angst-ridden tripe you get nowadays.

didn't realise I was TWO years older than you Al!

The youngsters these days will think that The Terminator is a crappy made film, but considering the budget etc I think it's one of the best in it's class, especially considering CGI was in it's infancy back then (and not used in this film)

As for Alien... BRILLIANT! A typical, detail ridden, Ridley Scott film. That's the thing with one of his films, it's always in the detail, so much effort put into it.

Dave I assume you mean the 1982 'The Thing' with Kurt Russell, as opposed to the 1951 original ;)

Incidentally, according to IMDB, they are making a Prequel to this, also called 'The Thing', to be released April next year!

indeed - the John Carpenter one! the sense of isolation and the horrible gore when the Thing tries to replicate someone makes this one of my favourites. The PS2 (and PC) video game of this was just as good and very loyal to the film to the point where you actually found the recording that Kurt Russell made. And in that small hut - there was one skeleton!!!!

Oh yeah, and I'm older than all three of you!! So don't forget it.... respect to your elders!! ;)

shatt it grandpa!

I love the Alien Saga. There's a new prequel on the way soon too :)

Could be good, as long as Scott is doing it, otherwise with a PG-13 certificate it could be a huge flop! Don't expect it until at least 2012 yet though.
