I appreciate the sentiment that we should have the rights to defend our homes and families etc, and i appreciate that it was an instinctive reaction and he phoned the police straight away... but a child now doesn't have a father, a mother without a son and the cycle of violence and hate in said community will continue....

Some wise words Paul, but also to add that although the yob has a son without a father, what sort of father figure is he, for his son to grow up to be the same. The cycle has to be broken and yobs have no deterrent to stop intimidating people. I dont condone the stabbing, it was probably not his intention to kill him, but to wound him out of fear. Yes he could have tried to fight the yob, but with the rest of his mates nearby, he may have been stabbed himself.

Unfortunate situation he has found him self in, but you cant go hiding all your life out of fear of yobbos, put yourself in his position...what would you have done..

You cant say how you'd react unless you were in the situation. People react differently to how they might think.
