Re-setting the ECU

Guys,can you re-sit the ECU by disconnecting the battery,if so what is the best method & how long doas it take.?????????????????

    If you disconnect the battery for around 30-60 minutes then the ECU will forget the history it has built up. This may cause tickover to go up etc. This is not something you should do as a metter of course, the ECU has a memory for a reason ... However, if you have made changes like intake, perhaps exhaust, cleaned the throttle bodies, then it's worth doing afterwards. In fact cleaning the throttle bodies takes just about the right amount of time for resetting the ECU, then all you have to do is perhaps adjust the tickover. Have a look at www.z-car.net for some good tips.
