I'm well aware that many people have private number plates on here, so i'll try and not be too offensive!

Recently I've been weighing up whether to get a private plate or not and have been looking at a few possibilities, but mainly M300...???

Trouble is, when i see a BMW with the private reg X5 BMW (etc), I just think 'you :censored:'

Or, if I see someone with the plate D311 BOY (I was trying to think of an example where the name of the owner wasn't quite so transparent, but more often than not you haven't got a clue what the plate is actually supposed to say), again, I just think 'you.....'

So despite the fact that I think 'car plates' and 'name plates' are utter :censored:..

..and the people who have them are utter :censored:..

I still would like one for my Zed. Which I guess, makes me a :censored:

1) What do you lot reckon (love em or hate em)?

2) And who has the best private plate on here?

I feel a poll coming on.. Calm yourself missus, not that kinda poll:winkiss:

Surly ?30 0ZX would be a winner.

Eg

M 300 ZX

Except that the letter Z was never available on the older style plate in the UK

search for prefix style mate

did that, still wont allow CU as a starting designation. dont know why they changed it. :(

Mine is K70 NYB

Rearranged to K 7ONYB

Abbreviation for Ok Tonyb

I have a few.

My X5 has HE08EYS, good job the missus drives it ( HE OBEYS ).

My Z3 has P3SKD, just my initials and it only cost £189.

The wifes CLK has DEB516V ( DEBS 16V ) called Debbie of course.

Finally, just bought UF04SEZ for my daughters 21 ( UFO 4 SEZ ) she's called Sarah.

Will have to be looking for one for the Zed, its still on a boring one.

Also I saw Shaun Slater from Eastbenders driving a cabriolet Bentley GT with the plate WE57HAM WESTHAM football fan????

I saw an s5 with 'YE5 BRUV' suffice to say I think they're sh*t!

Thank you,

That is enough to convince me that I don't wish to be associated with the private plate brigade..

I shall never look at DVLA reg again...

well, maybe...

My Dad has T4DOR but not a diagonal 4, one without the triangle bit at the top, looks like a U, so spells TUDOR, and I want it....

.................As for Love em or Hate them it depends on the plate. I don't like plates where they doctor the letters or use black screws to make e.g. two 1's into a H.

That's my thought also!!

If it means something (like your initials or it is obviously car related) then fine. But I hate cheapo ones which try too hard to spell a word but oh so obviously do not.

Just like Phil says - doctoring the characters (or using "3" in lieu of an "E" etc) is just plain stupid and IMO makes the driver look a bit of a knob.

I just have 3 plates with "RFS" as it is my initials and it does look good when all the cars are together!!

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

ive no objection to private plates but it makes me mad when the dealers think we are knobheads as in summit along these lines...

CL11 MT "ok here we have a plate for all you guys named Clint out there"

a million miles from the name but they think poor old Clinty out there is going to get an instant hard on and pay about 3k for it:rofl::rofl:..also cant see the point in car make related plates myself:confused1:

My dads got RFS on his (his initials)

What are yours?

I'm inclined to agree - if it needs doctoring to look like an actual word then its just trying too hard to impress.

I'm in a minority here too, because my name (all three letters of it) will actually fit onto any type of number plate. Thing is I don't actually want everyone to know my name - I prefer anonymity:ph34r: Also when a black zed is spotted dicking about in the middle of the night at an industrial estate, then the number plate would be much easier to remember by some do-gooder!!

Despite the overwhelming favouritism towards private plates as demonstrated by this poll, I think I will leave my reg as it is...

thanks for all the comments

My primary reason for putting a private plate on the Zed was after spending a large amount of money on it getting it how I wanted, looking like a new car - it seemed a shame to then tar it with a J??? ??? plate

Pretentious codswallop. Hate them. WTF are people trying to be with these unbelievable attempts to "make" their plate something to do with their names. I have just the plate for them:

W4 NKA lol.

Having said that, I went to a classic car show and there were two landrovers side by side with P16 PEN & P16 STY on them which looked cool.

I think they are ok for people like Paul Daniels - his number plate is MAGIC. I get it.

But ones where peolpe want their name and they are a no one, who cares???

Dont like or hate them but dont really see the point in most of them.

i always wanted MU51CAL, as i'm a musician, and I did see a 911 turbo with F81 SPY looked like FBI SPY, looked pretty cool, when i was a kid :) or ya could have MU51C DJ

if i remember correctly MU51C DJ was on a smart car owned by a store called 'hard to find records' in brum around 10 years ago.

My silver zed had A3 OUX and sold that to Andy then my new one is H3 OOT

I'm currently looking at D600X for £400 but we'll see how much i have left to play with next year if it's still about :)

the owner of hard to find records in birmingham used to have a bright yellow 911 turbo with the reg V1 NYL

Should be like Canada. Just go into a post office and if it’s available you can have it. My Uncle’s boss had “*****CKS” on his works truck for years LOL.

my lad, Zulley, doesn't get on here much atm so i'll put his up for him

L 1 ZXTT (L 12 XTT)

I quite fancy one, I did want N300 SWB for mine which is available for quite cheap, but other than for vanity it didnt make the car look any different lol.

I also found C13 VEY as close as I could get to cavey or my nickname, but it was about a grand and im meant to be saving.

My dad has MRC 563 his initials and it rhymes (lol) but its an old plate so quite interesting. My mum has L300 CAV as she is Lorraine Cave, the 300 just being a number. I did point out that it would be better on my zed but she was less than impressed.

I saw it on the A40 at Cheltenham a few months ago. It was on a Range Rover with his show's advertising logo on the side.

Jimmy Tarbuck has COM1C.
