Been trying to figure out why my 99spec front wont fit on my new zed, I've tried for the life of me to get a snug fit up at the wings. I've modded the inter-cooler ducts and even removed the polystyrene that was on the nudge bar, and removed the front fog lights, but i just cant seem to get it to sit flush with the wings for some reason?

I didn't have this problem with my black zed when i put it on that. and apart from a under tray that its not catching on, that's the only difference.

Am i missing something here?

Possibly the fact that cheapo reproduction parts don't fit as well as genuine manufacturer parts:lol:

You do know that my 99spec front bumper is a genuine yeah? polyurethane and flexible and not some cheap knock off from ebay. Just ask Car.mad hes just taken a copy of it so he can reproduce them, if it was a fake I'm sure he would of noticed.

i had the same issue with mine an extra pair of hands and a lot of cursing it will eventually go on, i found mine was sticking on the pods wich hold the fog lights in ... good luck youl get there

Might give it some lube then, but yeah strange how it would do that considering it didn't when i put it on my Black TT. bloody thing you would think being a genuine it would slot on ok. Thanks Sandy

No chance that its warped during the mould taking process at all?

Was your black TT JDM as well? Mine doesnt fit amazingly to one of the wings but I do have a front mount, and the bumper had to be shaved to fit it so I think it requires a little more alteration on mine.

I had to take the support bar off. Got rid of my fogs anyway, so wasnt an issue there, although some would say its there to help with impact, but it wouldnt fit with it on. It catches where the fog housing of the support bar is, it doesnt quite fit snug inside the partition bar of the bumper, between the indicator and fog. I might try shaving that area, but needed the bumper on at the time without the hassle, so left it off for now.

Mine had, so replaced the support bar, but one of the legs on the chassis is slightly bent, so might not have helped the fitment. Will sort it properly one day, but for now, it fits lol

Interesting ???

Yeah its a genuine bumper and no it impossible to go out of shape.

With 99% of the bumpers on the market the front bar does need to be removed because you are altering the complete shape of the front end.

I bet if you asked mike there would be 2 differant part numbers for the bars?

Black one is a UK spec, new one is a JDM, I've loosened and moved the fog bar up slightly this helped with the drivers side fitment, but not the passenger side. going to take it off and just shave some of the plastic housing from around the fog ducts with my angle grinder. then see lol

Take some pics for us Ian.

So whn my dad lists them on ebay he can tell them how to fit and what to do etc :)

I have a strange feeling the Fog housing is slightly different on the JDM compared to the UK spec. it fitted on nicely on the UK, but it seems as groover has said, its catching on the outter fog housing

I didn't, but now I do! If you're still having problems with the fit try a big hammer. I always feel better after a session with a big hammer:hammer:

Your bumper will probably look a bit:ohmy:, but you won't be feeling:death:

I haven't put the hat bolts on yet, as all it will do is pull the polyurethane up and not actually close the gap, so need to trim some plastic off those fog housings then try again. cant do that at the moment though, as its raining...... grrr, i hate this weather sometimes.

Well on a uk they`re not fogs they`re indicators, maybe they have a slightly different profile.

It was fitted with out them in, but the housing could be slightly different...

When this weather clears up ill be taking the bumper back off and having a ganders. hoping to get it fitted nicely, ill do some step by steps, luckily i have a spare bar on my breaker. so if this fails, i can always use the one it actually fitted with. just want to sort the problem out as if i don't have a extra one to help out.

What's the door gaps like Ian?-could you pinch a bit if you moved the wings forward?.When I fitted mine (JDM) I left the reinforcer off and it fitted great.

The inner lip on the wings havnt distorted at all have they so the bumper is getting bolted up before it pulls it flush?

Door gaps are nice, even changed the wing recently on the drivers side. and made it fit where the old one was. took a bit of time and positioning, but managed to get it exactly where the old one sat. i could but then id have a gap at the head light rubber where it meets the bumper. If i changed my headlights for the ones i my breaker, did away with the front fogs, and used my Halos for the side lights, i could get away with removing the fog housing, would just need to fill the holes with some fog ducts.

Manta are you the one with the transit cossy? where did you get your front grill mesh from? as i need to put some in mouth hole and the intercooler duct holes as well, but would much like the finer stuff, than the chicken wire most people go for.
