No, I don't think they are the same. When I was going to get a Blitz ECU they said they only do them for the jap ones, not the UK ones.

I could be wrong though.

Rob.

The ones I have taken apart look remarkably similar to me. The maps may vary slightly (different fuel etc), but I don't think the ECU itself is different.

Simon, your symtoms your suffering in the car are exactly the same as mine had when i fitted another ECU with a dud chip, which is why i asked the question, to find out, i plugged in another ECU, this came from an auto/jap import and my car is manual/uk, straight away the fan would come on with the old unit and with the different ECU it didn't, that was all i needed to confirm it was ECU/chip problems, so before buying another ECU just borrow 1 to plug in, it won't matter what model it's from,if your just going to start it and nothing else, if fan then no longer works i would assume ECU, if fan still comes on look at chip, your Uni-chip is not inside the ECU, far as i know it is an add on chip, so look for wires taped off from the original loom and follow them looking for any breaks, you should then find the chip unit, there are many companies now doing your chip, so you could have it tested, it's a piece of piss for them to do with a laptop, smithy
