I dont think so.

They are not on for that long cos in 5000 miles it needs another oil change

Yes it does matter. Stuart is right in saying that the filters aren't on for very long but believe you me that most after market filters aren't up to the job. For one thing, Halfords sell two different makes of oil filters that supposedly fit our Twin Tubs. If you hold the Nissan OE filter next to either of them you'll see that the Nissan one is bigger (by quite a bit). Looking at it from a slightly different perspective, when Nissan decided to create the ZX, the brief was to build something that stood up to the likes of the then current Porsches and Ferraris. No expense was spared in the design of our cars (regardless of howm much we sometimes may curse it). If Nissan deemed it necessary to have this particular size oil filter then I'm very much inclined to believe them. I *never* buy after market filters (oil or fuel) just for that reason. Oh, and it is actually cheaper to buy the OE part from Nissan than the filters from Halfords.

Sorry for rambling on like this.

Hope it still makes some sense.

Cheers mate!

Use nissan filters. They're not expensive.
