Oh shit, my life story just overflows with one thing going wrong with my Zed after the other ...

Today, after having installed a shiny new JWT pop charger, the car has developed what I can best describe as a "lumpy cruise". Basically, driving along at a steady 70mph (on the motorway), the car seems to accelerate and decelerate ever so slightly all on it's own accord. It is almost as if there is something that is temporarily increases the air resistance and then disappears again. (and before you state the obvious, no it wasn't windy) It causes the normaly smooth cruise to be jerky (albeit slightly but enough to annoy me and defo enough to have the girlfriend give me funny looks like " you f**king sell this heap of metal NOW before I cut off yer b*llox!").

I'm thinking (hoping and praying) it is something as simple as a faulty or dirty connection somewhere (perhaps the TPS ? ) but would like to pass this one on to you guys for some more ideas.

As always, your comments are highly appreciated.

Cheers all smile.gif

I think you can rule out the TPS.

Have you tried resetting the ECU after the new air filter ?

Would you describe it as 'hunting' ?

Hi Andy,

Yes I did reset the ECU (both connections to the battery off for about 2 hours while fitting) and also the TB's have been cleaned a short while ago. I think that hunting is probably the best description I can think of as well ... the car doesn't seem to be sure about the level of boost associated with the speed of travel. I can see the boost guage move slightly as this condition occurs.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Danny

Is your car a Manual or an Auto ?

Can you see a RPM change ?

Can you see a Speed Change ?

You are not referring to the famous "goose honk" that could happen from time to time, and makes you think you're having a RPM change, do you ?

Morning Henry!

My car's a Jap spec auto and no, it's not the goose honk (lovely as it is though). And no I can't see the rpm's or speedo change. It is mainly the boost guage that I can see going up and down (ever so slightly).

Thanks,

Danny

Is this anything to do with turbulence - tt.net used to mention this. Especially with new intakes. Apparently using some duct tape ( I kid you not) on the inside of the intake can cause a bit of turbulence which apparently the system needs else it gets a bit confused with a nice clean airlow.

It also was mentioned along with causing the car to stall at high speed....

So it 'might' be related.
