hi there can enyone shed some light !!! iv got a 300zx non turbo after geting the heads done the car still dosnt fire ! timing is ok i got the car as a project never had it running yet ! the car had been of the road for 8 month ! plug,d it in on the computer and it come up with the knock sensore ? plus on a 1990 importdose the key have a chip in it ?? thanx

no chip in the key matey, knock sensor code isn't necessarily the sensor, but could be the wiring for it, have a look in the FAQ section for the bypass mod, although that wouldn't normally stop it from starting, but wouldn't help if it hasn't been started for a long time i guess? could be a multitude of things, grab a few beers and a pizza, and obliterate the search button and soak it all up!

maybe the PTU, that is quite often the usual culprit, bad connections too, injectors, coil packs etc. they get green gunk in them over the years, you'll want to clean every connector you can get to, bit tedious bit very well worth it, again, search and enjoy, there is a wealth of knowledge on here, thousands before you (including me) have had the same problem!

just a thought, does it have an immobliser/alarm fitted, and do you have the fob?

Whats happening when you turn the key? do the lights on the dash work, does the starter motor make a noise, does the engine turn over but not fire. we have very little info to go on to narrow it down matey :D

the car turns over ! fuel geting there ! spark there ! there is an after market alarm/immobliser ?? the other thing iv just noticed theres no battery light on on the dash too !

do the ecu,s go wrong much on these cars ????

ECU fault is quite rare as far as i know. but i doubt it would be that anyway, are you sure the immobiliser is disengaging? also check the fuel pump fuse (smaller fuse box in the engine bay up by the drivers side wheel arch) its a 30amp fuse, if that's blown you can crank the car all day long and still not get the thing started.
