How do you know how much gas you have left in an LPG converted car?

I'm guessing they don't have a gauge? can you retro-fit one?

On my switch where you can choose between gas and petrol there are 3 green leds, but only 2 were on earlier. Any ideas what that means??! I'm a complete newb and any help would be appreciated thank you! :helpsmilie:

LPG gauge are quite in accurate, the green lights are telling you how much you got left hopefully, sometimes they go or down, i used to fill up when theres one or 2 left.

Thanks guys - maybe them lights are the off a level switch after all. Thats a good indication. I stuck £30 of gas in and drove 100 miles, but I haven't got a clue whether I'm supposed to still have loads left or what lol.

No Ian still got the 3 litre 300zx, just changed the daily car to a 4 litre jeep with lpg lol.

The car came from cambridge, so probably not lol :tt2:

Baz I also run a discovery with LPG, Your best bet is to fill the tanks fully and zero your milage. You will know when you are running out of gas as the jeep will seem to be sluggish and lack power. Fill your tanks again and zero your milage, do this a couple of times to give an idication of distance travelled on a full tank/tanks. This will be more accurate than the LED lights on the changeover switch. To give you an idea I have 2 x 36 Ltr tanks and usually fill up every 180 miles, a lot less if town driving. Just be careful when running your tanks low as you can somtimes get a blowback through your air filter if you suddenly pile on the power with low tank levels. Any other Question just ask. Don't know if you get to the service station at Barnetby top on the M180 but they do an accumalator card which gives a penny a Ltr off LPG every fill up to 10p a litre. Eg 1st fill = 1p 2nd fill = 2p 3rd fill = 3p and so on up to 10p off.

Thanks mate yeah thats really useful, I'm quite often up that way so I'll be using the service station when I'm over there. I think the only one in Lincoln that does it is Shell.

And if you're ever down my way bud we have the Total station on London Road that does LPG. Not sure aif any others do here as that's the station I use, as it'as down the road from me
