Gearbox oil filling

Does anyone know how to get gear oil into a manual box? I think it goes in through that metal pipe at the top but I'm not sure!

    You could be right but why is there a metal pipe at the top that loops over & down. It isn't for the oil cooler, it's for something else.

    AFAIK you fill/check level through the filler on the side - the pipe on the top is a breather..

     

    Yep just checked the manual - you fill/check through the filler plug on the side (looks like pass. side to me), and the pipe on the top is a breather..

     

    Don't fill through the breather - if you do you'll overfill, and then you'll find oil coming out of that breather very rapidly when running, I believe...
