Running Watr Sound (problem 2)

PROBLEM:

When driving along I can har sometimes only what I describe as 'running water' behind the dashboard, mostly if I am parked up after a journey and 'rev' my engine a bit. Could it be that when I first got my Z I topped up the coolent with just water and now it is 0 degrees and lower sometimes at night this freezes? or am I thinking about tis too much?

AREA:

Behind the dashboard, passenger side (I think) but sounds like it runs along the top of the dashboard.

Cheers,

Matty.

i had this exact same noise Matty.

have you fitted any new elctrical equipment that needed to run a wire through the bulkhead ? if so, did you use the hole behind the ecu ?

that sounds like the aircon drain hose has blocked, and all of the condensed water builds up inside the aircon airbox, until ir overflows into the heater box and fan box, which is what you can hear.

take your ecu out, and check the drain hose for a kink or blockage.

make sure you have a bottle or something to catch the water in once you move the drain pipe...

Done what you said and I couldn't get the pipe off!!

(wimp!)

Bloody thing is stuck, no kinks or anything, any idea's?

Matty.

I had the same. It sounds like you have air in the cooling system. Whilst the engine is running....have the heater on (full temp)....use the rubber "bleed" valve on the rad to remove the air and keep topping up the rad with fresh water accordingly.

Give it a try.

Andy

Cheers!

Will have a go on Sunday...

couldnt get it off ?

you dont need to take it off !

it just pokes out the front of the bulkhead, and you just pull it back inside the car...

and makre sure you push it back fully when finished....

the pipe is only about 3" long..

Hmmm, wondered what that was when I had to re-jiggle the ECU loom on Tim's car. Glad I put it back now !

Are you sure it's not a gurgling noise that's more noticeable when you open the drivers door?

If it's this then it's the AIV valve which fills with water and gurgles until you get the water out.

You have to remove the wheel arch plastic mudguard things to get to them.

A 30 minute job.

Been there done that, well I never Jeff did (all hail Papa Z)

It seems to run across the top of the dash when I give it some welly! but not all the time.
