Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has any knowledge about weed as a painkiller. Is there any type that's better than the other?

Basically one of my best mates has bone marrow cancer and is in a lot of pain. Normal painkillers from the doctors aren't helping much and the subject of weed came up.

If you prefer to PM me then that's fine :)

Cheers

Vijay

Hi I was part of a drug trial for htc for pain relief (due to suffering from chronic pain)and it does work the type I had was in spray form that you sprayed under your tongue it was called Sativex.Im sure It was given the go ahead but not many docs prescibe it due to the cost.

Cheers guys. I'll tell him anout Sativex and see what his doctor says.

He's tried skunk, didn't like the effects and said it was too chemical.

maybe try eating it, different effect, takes ages to kick in tho...

If he didnt like the effects eating is not a good way to go, very hard to control how much it will effect you until its too late.

Get him a vaporiser..a Volcano is best as you can regulate the strength....

also look up Rick Simpsons method.

Yes dont go eating the stuff you can seriously get wasted by accident that way. Smoke it or use a bubbly or a bong. The weed these guys smoke these days is well strong and can make you paranoid.

I would get some decent soap bar and try that, always did the trick after a bike or car crash in the 90s rave days.

Depends what is meant by "normal painkillers".

Pain mangement is not a simple subject.

There is a big range of painkillers in various forms available to GPs from simple tablets all the way to self controlled syringe drivers. Getting the right combination for each patient isnt easy but in my long years of experience effective pain control is achievable in nearly all patients and all stages of illness up to and including the final weeks in terminal cases.

My professional code of conduct would not allow me to advocate or endorse the use of anything illegal.

Best to call me if you need any help or just want to talk 07778 411568.

If anyone knows about medicine it's Slick Pete and it's what he's been doing professionally for yonks so i'd give him a call!

Thanks guys. Managed to get him a bit of "stuff" so he's trying that. I'll be seeing him today/tomorrow so will find out what medication he's been on and if the "stuff" helped at all. I'll call you after that Pete ;)
