I have a DVD head unit from my old car, works fine but when wired into the zed it wont remember the settings or stations, does anybody know which wire is for the memory? Is it usually the same colour on all headunits?

also, when i turn the ignition off i get a loud bang through my subs which i dont get with my current head unit. Anybody know what could be causing this?

i couldnt say, not too good with wiring. The head unit i have in at the moment works perfect though

Almost definately ignition live and constant reversed if it worked OK in the other car. What was the other car the DVD head unit was fitted to? Might be a case of someone had to swap the ignition and permanent lives over to get it working previously and they now need swapping back - common in vauxhalls ;)

aahhh, now i think about it a wire did have to be moved when it was in the previous car! I dont remember which 1 but with that wiring diagram (thanks Daves_Zed) i should be able to figure it out :)

anyone got any ideas about the banging when i switch it off? Had this problem in the last car too

First id get those wires change around, that might stop the bang when you turn it off. next step would be to take the earth feed from the connection and ground the stereo properly on the chassis, there is a earth point behind where the stereo will sit once in situ.

300zx earth point on the ISO wire is crap, mine used to switch off if you turned the volume up to loud until i earthed it on the chassis.

swap them red and yellow wires over :thumbup1:

most likely, memory will wipe every time the power is lost, it takes the live feed to keep the memory, so you will need to swap them over. as for the bang, it might cure it, try it and see.

Very common problem that when i served my time as a ripspeed audio fitter. and the amount of people that would buy an autoleads vauxhall adapter was unreal! wanted it done right they said. more money than sense if you ask me
