Noise from Gearbox/Clutch

While I've been driving slowly because of the shitty weather I can hear more noises from the car than usual, the noise that worries me is when I engage the clutch and the pulll away slowly I hear a dull THUD from sort of behind me like something is engaging, is that normal, is that just the clutch, I never heard it before but then I usually have the music on to high. Sound s like somebody hitting the rear axle?? wierd.

no2. I still have a metalic squeak from o/f/front wheel, I've had the brake stripped down and cleaned, but the noise is still there, could this be the wheel bearing on the way out??

Cheers

The thud is probably due to play in the prop and/or diff. Probably worthing getting someone to take a look underneath before it gets worse. It may be OK.

Hi,

The "thud" may be fom the propshaft...have you changed the centre bearing or gearbox rear mount yet? They perish after many years wear and tear.

Cheers Guys, I'll get that checked out.
