I bought some new crystal clear indicators and some of the crystal rear lights. the indicators were the only ones that supplied lamps, and they were orange (which deffied the point of being crystal clear) and don't fit. and the rear lights didn't supply any, so i still can't fit them.

My existing indicators lamps are a bit of a wierd fitting, the pins are slightly different hights, but opposite each other. and only have one point of conection in the holder. was just wondering if i can get the silver lamps to fit the holders, or do i need to get new holders.

also is the black grease stuff on the rear lights really nescecary?

yes it stops water pouring into your boot

the front crystal indicators are for UK spec i think so require a little modification for the holders to fit properly (one extra well placed groove should do it). I thinted the original bulbs for the front black as i thought this gave a better look. got the chrome bulbs for the rear though and they work spot on :)

The new rear lights should come with a rubber contact surround which replaces the need for the god awful black tar.

yeah there is some sort of gasket with the knew lights. like a foam rubber thing. i was hopping it would suffice so that i didn't have to scrape off all the tar and try to reseal them. it really is a messy job. Going to have to wait though untill the new lamps come till i can get them fitted. bit gutted about that, could of done them today.

go to halfords and buy some orange lights for now. or get some Amberbulb paint and do it yourself. If you'd been going to the meet today you could have fitted the lights first and then i could have painted the bulbs for you while you were there. would just mean you'd have white indicators for a few miles lol.

but if i get some from halfords, they'll probably cost me about £15 and i need two for the indicators and for the rear, where as if i get them from ebay, both pairs will cost me under tenner.

i tried to fit the indicators the other day because my front nearside lamp has blown, and then found the lamps provided wouldn't fit, so i just sort of wedged it in and then fitted the new indicator, but then it started raining so didn't fit the other side, so i've got odd indiators. i would go and change the other one but then that means i'll have one white indicator on the front and not a left one, and i feel that would piss off some people.
