How long this thread will last who knows, someone get the stopwatch out

First off I would like to say this is not aimed at anyone, it is not a slanging match and would like it kept to just sensible comments and replies without it degrading into a mod slanging battle as that is far from what this thread is about.

I'd like to know why we are not allowed to mention or express opinions about banned members?

And I don’t mean making comment on if you feel their ban was right or wrong, just saying its a shame they are not here etc or even asking another member why they are no longer about, your jumped on by mods and told that kind of talk will get you into trouble.

Now the people being banned is the committee decision and final and that’s how it is, we accept that and respect their decision, completely fare enough.

But why on earth is the mere mention of any banned member’s name being treated as a hanging offence?

Now we have all seen the threads being dug up recently from "the good old days" and it can’t help to make you wonder if we are being a little too moderated these days purely because they "can" moderate a thread not because it needs it.

70% of the time if a (questionable) thread if left to run its course without comments or warnings from mods they end nicely and with no need for butting in, yet recently mods are jumping in with "Any more or this that or the other and your all in the sin bin" making a thread escalate where as if they said nothing it would have gone on quite happily for another page or two and then ended on its own without bad feeling being unduly caused.

Moderation is a very difficult subjective job, but is of course completely necessary, needed and even welcome.

I take my hat off to those who do it as it not easy. But I really do think its time for a sit down and rethink on what really denotes a thread in need of moderation or not.

I say this with the good of the club and it's existing and future member in mind not as a random rant.

I hope I’ve not pissed off too many people by posting it, and that it stays open and is taken in the meaning of it being written and without reading between the lines as there is nothing to read there.

yup, frequents these forums on a daily basis, although he thinks we dont know who he is, he doesnt post though lol

lol

hi Timmy

ive seen some post's here backing funky, i wonder if you's would say the same if you were on the other end of his constant bullying, yeah its great if you are in his friends list, but its terrible if you are not

he was a bully, he used to try and belittle people just cause they didnt agree with his views

how many "im sick of funky" threads have we had over the years, there has been lots

he was given chance after chance and just took the piss, and i reckon if anyoine here that has backed him had felt his wrath then im sure the post would have told a completely different story

Bullying???? are you having a laugh..... how old are we.... 6, last time i checked were all adults, maybe people should get a thicker skin before they send PM's to the "committee" about any member vocalising their opinion.

If they dont like it, then dont reply to it. But if people post "what do you think of this?" and i say "it looks shit"..... is that bullying??? If the OP says "thats harsh etc etc etc" ill still tell them fair enough, but its shit if i think its shit. and if they keep disagreeing, fine..... but i still think its shit. If i think a cars a rust bucket, ill say its a rust bucket till im blue in the face.

And last time a checked we didnt need a bunch of baby sitters looking after us all.

Modding being a difficult job???? are you kidding? I know full well how difficult modding is..... its not. simple.

The simple fact is, certain mods have their favourites.... certain mods will target certain members and pounce on every opinion that certain members make.

The only way that its possible to stop members of the community being unfairly targetted is to keep things fresh within the mod team, have a time limit on a period time someone can be a mod. Gives the community to experience a variety of moderation techniques, clear the cliques and get rid of the rot boxes.

But this same subject has come up more time than i can remember, and the same result happens.......

Fair play to takemetothepub for starting this thread up..... but im sorry to say sweet FA will change. its still the same as when i joined.

Ill go back to my local club now..... taarah

Oh and before you ask..... the reason i posted up in this thread is because a member suggested some sort of change to how the forum is run.

Being a long term registered member, once again, ill speak my mind on the opinion.

Yeah i did, it was quieter than here so i thought id be a trouble maker and pop back, come on alan, you must remember what it was like to be a weee rapskallion, rocking the boat and all.

yes i do, but you are the only person on this thread spoiling for a fight, it aint gonna happen, the only thing that will happen is that this thread will be closed and the decent discussion that we were having will no longer be

Who's spoiling for a fight???? You post an opinion, i comment....

I was simply asking if you remember being a rapskallion? i must remember to stay on topic......

I think that your comment of "the thread will be closed" is the exact reason why this thread was created in the first place. Moderation. Your basically threatening to close a thread because you dont like the fact someone is repeating their opinion on a certain subject matter. Now the subject matter has changed ever so slightly, the threat of closure is back.

Why???

the only reason your posting is because you want an argument, this is the reason thread are closed, you wont take it that this is a decent thread and that you are just ruining it with your constant digs

people can see what your doing, its the same when your club was trawled with posts about taking the owner to court for theft

you jumped on your horse and threatened court action for slander and thread were closed removed and edited to suit the club

we have never threatened court action for anything on this forum for as long as ive been here

your simply out to provoke a reaction and unfortunaltely the only one you will get will result in the closure of this thread and people have already stated that they dont want that

So your basically saying, because im asking you questions about moderation, your taking it as trouble making because of previous comments ive made in the thread, even though my latest posts are completely relevant to the topic of the thread.

Keep on topic al, this has got sweet FA to do with the other club. Dont tell me to get my fact right on the Si issue and then spout shite i had nothing to do with.

Max bites his tongue for fear of "posting with intent" or breaking some other rule by accident as he has had a drink tonight :winkiss:.

OMG this place really is getting like George Orwells 1984 :scared: I must conform... I must conform... think of fluffy kittens. :whistling:

this thread has turned silly, it gonna be closed

nick if your going back to your local forum then that is fine

madmax, if you have something on your mid then go for it, just say it and dont try and be smart

its quite obvious both of your posts are to gain a reaction

your both members of the other site and im sure you have noticed that we dont go over there trying to cause trouble as its simply not worth it

we would have loved all the 300zx communities to have been as one but there are members like yourselves that are hellbent on divideing them for you own personel vendetta's

its simply silly and is going to ruin a decent thread

At this point I will I dont think its some of the members on here, I think it might be one or two of the moderators.

Everyone knows it but no one says anything, I think the admin team here really need to have a serious think about how they run things and who they have doing it for the reasons stated in this thread. And no I have never upset anyone on here been rude or offensive to members or anything like that. Quite the opposite in fact!

Like others I just want to express an opinion in an open and honest way without it being twisted into something its not, breaking some rule somewhere, or getting on someones hit list.

Well if an "opinion" does that then it kind of goes to show what everyone has been saying all along.

Well personally I quite like this forum. I recall that everytime I logged on funkysi and others were slagging someone off for having ideas which didn't quite suit their own. He had a lot to offer this forum, there's no doubt about that, but I imagine we've lost a lot of good guys who didn't want to suffer such self opinionated crap. I know that I'm not perfect by a long way but when I post I'm simply adding to the mix. The last thing I need is some tw@t lecturing me. Bullying doesn't just take place at school and I've seen it on here on more than one occasion. I think the mods do a pretty good job and while I agree that sometimes it might appear self serving it would wouldn't it :)

oming from a person who doesnt post a lot, it actually says a lot

well done bob and this post is much appreciated

Most do most of the time I agree with that, im not talking about specifics just stating that maybe some of the mods need to be accountable as well as just the members?.

it doesnt take a lot to say that its me some members dont like, ive been a mod for some time and have made some great friends and just as many enemies

its no secret that your friends with simon, and im the first to admit that friends mean a lot more to us than people on a fourm, its good to see you stick up for a friend

what i cant get is, you know where he now resideds as a member, so instead of trying to cause friction on here, why not focus your energies towards your friend and the forum he frequents??

no im not, thats just the way your reading it, its already been said that they know where simon is, im simply suggesting that if this forum doesnt have him and they prefer a forum that does thne there is no need to be so hostile towards this forum and they can simply leave this place if they like and al will be fine

Si has nothing to do with it, I have not brought him up in this my remarks are general ones. If I wanted to throw myself on a sword for him I would have done it at the time. It was not my desision to make, I did not get involved and dont intend to be drawn into it. It has nothing to do with me what happens between you guys and him is your business.

I just think that that some of the comments on this thread and others from a moderation point of view probably cause more problems than they solve with the members. No one here disagrees that if we have trouble makers they need sorting out me included. But maybe just remember that this site is here to provide a service to its members and as such they should be treated in a way that they find condusive. Im pro this place not anti it, I have NEVER had an issue with any of the members here ever.

I have been here for a year with a completely clean bill of health, but something did need saying. On that note I close my case your honour...

and what comments on this thread caused your reaction

your posts have been very constuctive, i have enjoyed reading them and hopefully i have replied without sounding too presumtious and offencive

I know where he posts and chose not to flounce.. but again its got nothing to do with him. There is no Si conspiracy theory stuff going on here. I dont have problems with him or anyone else on here so I continue to choose to post here not there.

This is exactly what I and others have been talking about, I get drawn into giving my opinion. I was trying to be constructive and now I feel victimised for doing so and it is being implied that I am some kind of terrorist cell or something?. I then get told it is because like (many others) I am loosly friendly with someone that got a ban.

Comments like I will close the thread, hes a trouble maker, blah blah blah. It just seems a bit heavy handed and confrontational to me.

totally agree here. i feel that my name would be given a black tick if i ever made a derogatory remark on how the club is "managed" having been on the mod team i know how shit works.

all will not be fine , it hasnt from the point he AUP was decided to be stuck to the letter and no leeway was given, it all stemmed from when people used to say "but he said such and such and you didnt mod him"

imo there should be a little more leeway to the rules, the AUP was originally intended as a guide..

many people are friends with many members that have been "banned " over the last few years and friends that have left because of the mod team.....

even some who were moderators and left because they saw what was really like on the other side of the fence.

Anyway im off to bed before i get a black tick next to my name on the dark side.

night all
