How long this thread will last who knows, someone get the stopwatch out

First off I would like to say this is not aimed at anyone, it is not a slanging match and would like it kept to just sensible comments and replies without it degrading into a mod slanging battle as that is far from what this thread is about.

I'd like to know why we are not allowed to mention or express opinions about banned members?

And I don’t mean making comment on if you feel their ban was right or wrong, just saying its a shame they are not here etc or even asking another member why they are no longer about, your jumped on by mods and told that kind of talk will get you into trouble.

Now the people being banned is the committee decision and final and that’s how it is, we accept that and respect their decision, completely fare enough.

But why on earth is the mere mention of any banned member’s name being treated as a hanging offence?

Now we have all seen the threads being dug up recently from "the good old days" and it can’t help to make you wonder if we are being a little too moderated these days purely because they "can" moderate a thread not because it needs it.

70% of the time if a (questionable) thread if left to run its course without comments or warnings from mods they end nicely and with no need for butting in, yet recently mods are jumping in with "Any more or this that or the other and your all in the sin bin" making a thread escalate where as if they said nothing it would have gone on quite happily for another page or two and then ended on its own without bad feeling being unduly caused.

Moderation is a very difficult subjective job, but is of course completely necessary, needed and even welcome.

I take my hat off to those who do it as it not easy. But I really do think its time for a sit down and rethink on what really denotes a thread in need of moderation or not.

I say this with the good of the club and it's existing and future member in mind not as a random rant.

I hope I’ve not pissed off too many people by posting it, and that it stays open and is taken in the meaning of it being written and without reading between the lines as there is nothing to read there.

Nick

people can enjoy and have fun, problem is the handfull of people that set out to cause trouble no matter what, we have to moderate and unfortunately members think they cant have fun as it will be ruined by the trouble makers and be moderated

I agree in part with that but never being sure what you can or cant post and how it might be taken does actually remove the fun in a lot of cases as well.

The moderation on here is generally for the good of the place, but the lack of freedom of speech and opinion is very very frustrating from a users point of view even if you are not a "trouble maker". Im sure giving the members some proper input will only help the place.

i agree, but again its the handfull of people that will use the steam just to cause upset and use it to have a go

take nickz32 in this thread, he seemed hellbent on causing an argument without even knowing what he was on about

Im not criticizing what you guys decide on or do, at the end of the day you give your time freely to the place.

I am commenting in a a general way and not relating to specific people or situations. Its just my opinion from a users perspective. You can ban or do whatever you like at the end of the day its not my site. But from a constructive position I am meerly trying to make a few points or suggestions that could help the place longer term.

It didn't happen though, so good times. Seems some might go about looking for trouble in the knowledge its not too hard to find. If perhaps the reaction they are looking for wasn't so immediate they might get bored?

There will always be a very very minor element of trouble makers, but maybe, just maybe, assumptions shouldn't be made so quickly that this is the case. As already said (extremely eloquently i might add) by others, then perhaps the threads could be let to run due course until a 'rule' HAS been broken?

the main problem is that it is just fuel for the fire, the people that cause the problems pm, msn, text their mates to join in and have a go, ive been a mod for about 4 years and ive seen it all, you can tell what is going to happen before it does, its the same people and same shit

Agree with daffy

The trouble makers are on all sites the threatening, racist and really abusive ones need to be dealt with the others always go away when they get no reaction and get bored

I'm all new to this so my opinion isn't by any means informed. Guess i'm just a boring old(ish) git who doesn't really see why a group of consenting adults need moderating? A lot of people, not just here but in general, would do well to remember "It's nice to be nice".

I like to have a laugh and i can be as sarcastic and opinionated as the next man, trust me. But why would anyone in their right mind want to go on a forum dedicated to Twin Turbo Datsuns and ther underpowered little N/A siblings just to cause trouble????

same reason a person wants to go to a pub and cause trouble, its because thay can and will, people make friends and maybe that friend gets moderated in some way then all of a sudden the friends hate us and this place and want to cause trouble just to look good in front of their friends

its a vicious circle lol

hmmmm maybe "posting with intent" should be added to the AUP lol :innocent: you know not actually done anything wrong but capable of doing something?.

Now that was just a joke by the way before I go and get myself in trouble for something that I dont know about as I have never read the AUP :helpsmilie:

Those nob heads in the pub are best left alone and humoured

They all get their come uppence outside the pub one day !!

That's where i should be. Down the pub!! Since i bought my bloody Zed though all i do is work. Early start again tomorrow so behaving myself unfortunately. Everything in moderation i suppose?

Are you saying you are one of those nob heads ?

Cheeky git. I knew somebody would say it :tt2:

Am i going to have to justify myself again? PMSL

oi leave the n/a's alone LOL:ban:

I drive a Datsun mate, a maroon one at that. Just lightening the mood a bit. :flowers:

 im sensitive about my little underpowered datsun! goes well tho for an asthmatic:whistling::offtopic: sorry

I think some of you want to think you're lucky you don't own a Skyline, as both the GTR and Skylineowners clubs are very heavily modified, and always have been, over in the states some of the 300ZX clubs wont stand for 'off the wall' modifications either and you get shot down there for showing or discussion them... it's just the different way certain clubs see things.

I'm sure if well thought out club suggestions are put forward (and I really do mean 'Well Thought Out' ones!) then they could be looked at.

Most members come here to enjoy the facilities that the club offers, it's a shame that there are some tits that want to have everything their own way, and then think they are owned something when they don't get it and wont let it lie!! My personal message to them is.... "If you don't like it, then F**K O**!!" I've been here a long time now, and I've seen many members come and go, through various reasons, some have been a shame to see them go, and some it's Good Riddance! Members will always come and go, and this club will still be here......... So enjoy the site, enjoy your Zeds and keep this place running nice and smoothly!

My 2p's worth anyway :D

Great opening words in your first thread "takemetothepub", very well put and delicately posted. Top words fella!!!

Al.

In this sites favour the members are very friendly, and the social side of it adds considerable value to its users.

I tell all my guys that moderation should be "In the spirit of the site" not the "letter of the AUP" on our sites.

Well said mate

Your right in general the members create the social side of this forum, it has to have a bit more than just Z talk.

What it also needs IMO is "characters" whether it be their type of sense of humour/wit/cheekiness or even their extensive knoweldge that they bring, but in short certain members bring to the club what it needs, a life and soul outside of just Z's.

IMO Si was just one of those type of people and if you don't like it, don't read it and sadly in nearly all cases he was right! I just hope 1 day the committee re think if Si's character is more welcomed than not.

They have overturned the odd ban before, having got it right but also got it wrong, so fingers crossed.

Personally i think wtf when looking at some threads/posts that have either been moderated or deleated, but then remember that 1) there could be more to it than what i have seen and 2) as said previously not everyones understanding or perception of something is the same as anothers, albeit mods or the members of the club.

It's a thankless task being a MOD and often they can't do right for doing wrong and we only ever know when they get it wrong and seldom know when they get it right!

Finally with what gripes i may have with the way things are being run here, excluding what happens with our money, i don't care about them...................

p.s worthy thread for the community though mate, well done :-)

Smithy

ive seen some post's here backing funky, i wonder if you's would say the same if you were on the other end of his constant bullying, yeah its great if you are in his friends list, but its terrible if you are not

he was a bully, he used to try and belittle people just cause they didnt agree with his views

how many "im sick of funky" threads have we had over the years, there has been lots

he was given chance after chance and just took the piss, and i reckon if anyoine here that has backed him had felt his wrath then im sure the post would have told a completely different story

yup, frequents these forums on a daily basis, although he thinks we dont know who he is, he doesnt post though lol
