How long this thread will last who knows, someone get the stopwatch out

First off I would like to say this is not aimed at anyone, it is not a slanging match and would like it kept to just sensible comments and replies without it degrading into a mod slanging battle as that is far from what this thread is about.

I'd like to know why we are not allowed to mention or express opinions about banned members?

And I don’t mean making comment on if you feel their ban was right or wrong, just saying its a shame they are not here etc or even asking another member why they are no longer about, your jumped on by mods and told that kind of talk will get you into trouble.

Now the people being banned is the committee decision and final and that’s how it is, we accept that and respect their decision, completely fare enough.

But why on earth is the mere mention of any banned member’s name being treated as a hanging offence?

Now we have all seen the threads being dug up recently from "the good old days" and it can’t help to make you wonder if we are being a little too moderated these days purely because they "can" moderate a thread not because it needs it.

70% of the time if a (questionable) thread if left to run its course without comments or warnings from mods they end nicely and with no need for butting in, yet recently mods are jumping in with "Any more or this that or the other and your all in the sin bin" making a thread escalate where as if they said nothing it would have gone on quite happily for another page or two and then ended on its own without bad feeling being unduly caused.

Moderation is a very difficult subjective job, but is of course completely necessary, needed and even welcome.

I take my hat off to those who do it as it not easy. But I really do think its time for a sit down and rethink on what really denotes a thread in need of moderation or not.

I say this with the good of the club and it's existing and future member in mind not as a random rant.

I hope I’ve not pissed off too many people by posting it, and that it stays open and is taken in the meaning of it being written and without reading between the lines as there is nothing to read there.

Completely agree with the above. Some stuff is left to run its course and some stuff is pounced upon, even insignificant stuff. Depends whos in the thread and whos online it would seem.

Well i'm with you Nick.

Most of the stuff on here is taken in jest and if there are nasty things said then cant they be ignored like grownups, rather than punished and treating us like kids?

Simon.

Completely agree. I may not post a lot on here but I do peruse daily and it seems every time a certain ex member is mentioned a mod jumps in with a threat of banning for anyone who dares mention his name again.

Of all the forums I am a member of this is by far the most friendly, helpful, sensible and mature. It is for these reasons that I think threads should be left to run their course as 99% of the members on here will settles disputes amicably without the need for personal name calling or threats. In all the time I've been on here I've never seen one racist, sexist, homophobic or general degrading remark and no threats either. There has been the odd insult but we're all adults and we all accept the fact we won't all like each other, thats how a community works. It would be pretty boring if we all liked each other and all had the same opinions.

Just my two pence worth and I dont speak for everyone.

the reason simon threads are jumped on is because all they are for is to cause upset in the club

the other reason certain threads are closed as they are started by people from the other forum trying to cause trouble of have sly digs, nickz32 hasnt posted anything on here for ages, then he asks about his car then he has a sly dig in the peru thread about members opinions not meaning much and so on, it was simply typed to cause upset and cause a reaction

the other reason threads are moved and moderated lately is because we get complaints about them, years ago we didnt have half as many people using the forum as we do now and unfortunately there is always a thread that upsets someone and we get complaints, a lot of complaints arent dealt with as they are deemed a bit unjust, but a lot have to be dealt with as the complaints are justified

this thread will stay untill someone tries to make a mountain out of a mole hill and use it to try and get a reaction from the mods and comittee by fetching up something that they know will be moderated

great post, but let me tell you why you dont see things like this, its because its moderated heavily to delete these types of threads and post's

Thanks for letting this stay Alan :)

not a problem mate, but i fear its only a matter of time till someone anti mod or comittee come along and ruin what could be a good discussion thread

should tell them to grow up and get a life. Its a car site for adults and if they dont like a certain thread then they should stop reading it. press thenew post button and forget about it

who an earth could be arsed to complain about any thread on here. Who ever they are there very sad. were all adults and should take it like a man. so sad running off the the mods like little school girls :lol:

There dosnt seem to be many members on here any more that you can have a good laugh/a bit of banter with :(

I think that having members removed for petty reasons upsets the club membership more?

I do come on here, but don't always post. I don't post on the orange site much either anymore for my own reasons.

you only know what simon has wanted you to know, there is a lot more to it than just calling someone a moron, we were getting complaints on a daily basis, some from people he would class as friends

But dont you think chinese whispers on here and anything trying to find out more is very quickly shut down by mods makes things worse?

People are wanting to find out answers and are only being given secret and mystery and hush hush.

....and there lies the problem. Despite being a long term dedicated member of the club any comment I make will be construed as "anti club spirit" and moderated.

Thanks for contributing to the thread but its gonna get closed very quickly if you keep picking fights with mods mate.

to be honest mate, its between simon and the comittee, if he wishes to tell people only part of the story then that is upto him

im not going to go into detail about the whole saga

I saw a screen grab of that thread before it was moderated and deleted. Everyone knows the other reasons why he was given temp bans and they were never justified.

Its one of the reasons I am not active on here so much anymore.

Anyway, Im done here. Just seeing it from a number of peoples point of view.

I Agree with most of what is said. moderation is unenviable task but do feel all members behaviour should be able to be looked at as were not all perfect and all of us can get things wrong or step out of line.it's the way we deal with it later that shows the adults from the children :thumbup1:

I think Si was like Marmite to many people on here because of how he was!

I didnt really know him but got on well on here with him, I personally think it is a shame what happened but I can also see that how he was at times caused his demise on here! If he has had fair warning & decided not to act then that is sadly down to him.

He was quite a character & added a lot of fun on the forum to many (& a lot of s**t too  )

Mods do a great job on here & there is always more to these things than you would think!

Like times before when these things have happened the world & this forum will go on just fine!

not really mate, i like you and your views

but someone will see this thread as a way of causing trouble for their own satisfaction, i could probably pre guess the people to do this aswell

Dont want you to go into detail of any indervidual case. I mean a brauder spectrum that trying to talk amung ourselves about a banned member is not alowed. Not asking mods or commitee just talking to each other is brushed under the carpet, thats not good.

exactly mate, you seen "ONE" thread, maybe if you were round a bit more you would have seen all the others

you say your not very active but as soon as you see a thread like this you jump on it without even knowing all the facts
