Hi All,

 

I have recently purchased a lead to connect my laptop to my TV. It has a HDMI lead one end and a female multi-pin connector the other end. This end is like a square block with tiny slots in as opposed to a pin connector.

The problem is I can see any pictures that are on my computer on the TV but it will not transmit sound.

Anyone had any experience with these and maybe knows of a setting that I need to activate?.

i had to run a lead from my headphone socket on my laptop to the red and white phono socket (says audio in or summet) on my TV....

cos i think that socket on compters only does video, might be wrong tho....

Had the same thing with my PC, basically had to turn on an option in the sound settings to output the sound as a digital signal (pretty sure that's what it was). It was easier for me to just run a phone lead to my DVD surround amp instead of messing with settings each time.

lead from pc will only do video you need 2nd lead from headphone socket to tv to do audio side

The PC lead only does video.

Sounds like a dvi connection on one end,,,,in which case you wont get any sound,,,,you'll need a seperate lead going from laptop to tv,,,,,something like thishttp://www.ebuyer.com/product/165466?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products....the single connection goes into headphone socket,,the other to into tv,,,,although u knew this anyway :-)
