Just sell it. As you know, they're s*@t anyway. That's why you bought it in the first place.

Tell us more about the car mate. You have to remember you are asking a forum of 300zx enthusiasts if you should sell your car or not?

I for one was trying to inject a bit of humour. Sorry if you took it the wrong way. :surrender:

The main thing that is pi$$ing me off is there is a slight oil leak down the back of the engine on the passenger side, i have looked at the vvt solinoids and they dont seem to be the cause. I have degreased and removed all traces of oil but still cant see where its coming from.

To make matters worse it drips or gets splashed on to the passenger side exhaust so it smokes like its on fire when i stop anywhere.

Ok, I can understand why that's peeing you off. I don't know where the oil could be coming from, i'm afraid.

I'd recommend you start a thread about it as there are a lot of very good people on the site that will be able to help.

In the meantime, don't lose heart in the zed as they are fantastic cars.

my old zed did something similar, it was actually a bad gasket on the cam cover might be worth checking, only did it with the engine running and spat droplets onto the rear of the engine bay

i should know about zeds being annoying mines got a phantom illness that's stopped it running since may lol,

but at the end of the day, they are great looking cars, they are really fun to drive, and if you got given it even more reason to keep it

is there anything else wrong with it? pics maybe?

I'd say keep it. It currently stands you at Zero so if you have to inject a little cash into it to get it right, it'll still be a lot less that most users on here. And as has been said before, they are great looking cars :)

As mentioned, more likely to be from the exhaust cam rear gasket rubber seal. Its a half moon rubber that sits where a vvt sensor would be, to visualise it. The rest of the gasket is liquid gasket/sealer. over time it will have perished or not tightened to the correct torque.

You will need the plenum off to get to it though, a little involved but nothing too major.

As Paul asked, where are you based, there may be someone who can help or advise.
