is there a way to find original reg date on imports ?

this may be a bit random or pointless but i was wondering if there is a way on jap import cars to find out when it was first registered in japan. my zx is a h reg 1990 and 1st reg was in 2004 in the uk.

Look on the seat belts at the bottom fastening and the boot blind if they are both original...

That will be the year of manufacture and the numbers are in English !

This site was useful if anyone is interested lol

Hi, yeah, that is in the "FAQ Storage Area" section....

for accurate dating from chassis number.....

mine had the tags cut off the seat belts and the interior trim had been changed....

so aside from getting the info from Nissan (and one of the other members on the site) this was quite a handy find...

I just realised your original question was "when was it first registered in Japan?"

Well you would only be able to find that out though either the original registration paper work or contacting the Japanese DVLA (or whatever they are called)....

why would you want to know when it was first registered compared to when it was made?
