After reading the rescued Sparrow thread thought i'd post this that happened to me last Wednesday.

I was driving home from work when a Bird Literally fell out of the Sky and smacked into my door. I'm pretty sure it must have died mid-flight.

I saw it coming down out of the sky towards my car, but it wasn't flying as it's wings were back, it then hit my door and part of the window with a great thud, then i seen it bounce off the road a few times in my wing mirror before it came to a stop. I'm 90% sure it was a Pigeon from what i saw of it. I had the window half down too so another foot higher and it would have smacked me in the face. all very funny but could have caused a hugh accident.

i was almost positive it would have dented the door but luckily there was just like a greasy mark on it.

I mean, what are the chances? the sheer size of the sky? a bird dying in mid air and falling to the ground? Then it hitting my car? The amount of variables that had to happen in a precise way are astronomical.

Why do i NEVER win anything on the lottery :(

HEHE this is a very good read :)

it does make you wonder wether we are NOT meant to win and do some things though... as much as we might not like to agree.....

other than that im glad your door is ok and more glad it wasn't a seagull that crashed into your car, wouldn't like to think of the damage there

wait till one flies in the window at motorway speeds and crashes into your rear window!!

btw i won the euro millions on friday woohoo!! a whole fricking £7.20.... lol

A customer test drove a new qashqai into two seagulls at 50-60mph and the only thing that happened was a slightly bloody grill, rubber pushing out from impact by the windscreen and a hell of a lot of laughter from me

WOW!

hehe, well atleast i know now. but to be honest i imagine this might vary on cars

I once had a pheasant hit my windscreen at 80+mph on the M25.....

........I saw the thing taking off from the hard shoulder and knew I'd hit it. Luckily there was no-one in the passenger seat at the time, so I accelerated and moved as far right as I could.....

......it ended up hitting the top left hand corner; it almost took the whole screen out as the left half was just flapping loosley! The damn bird left its claw in the windscreen rubber and a red streak over the roof of my (then) white Supra!!

That was a fun job for Autoglass........

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Excellent.. a thread about hitting birds. I don't even have to worry about the Women's Institute this time:whistling:

I was driving my mums Volvo 340, back in the day... Was wringing its neck down some back lanes and came across two wood pigeons sat in the road. At this point in my life I still thought it was cool to kill stuff and hit the accelerator pedal.. As the speedo arced round to about 85mph the birds had still not noticed my approach:detective: A wry smile spread across my face the instant I realised we had reached the point of no return and they were surely, doomed.

Car approaches.. Pigeon faces look up:ohmy: Pigeons leap into the air in a futile attempt to evade imminent death:scared: only to make it to the same height as the car's bumper. Any anoraks on here (or desperately unlucky people) will know a Vovle 340's front bumper is roughly a 45 degree angle. Well, the pigeons certainly knew that fact very well! Both were launched like feather propelled grenades straight into the atmosphere. Cheering my impossibly well timed strike I glanced backwards in the mirror to see a cloud of feathers gently settling back down to earth and momements later the THUD, THUD as the two souless birds came back down after their last ever flight..

I can't adequately express the pure poetry of these events. The birds had literally shot straight up (im guessing) about 100ft into the air and returned, nearly to the centimetre, where they had launched from.

As an adult I realise this was senseless and maniacal, but in my defence I did almost die laughing...

hahahaha, very funny all be it a bit sick! the joys of bein young eh? haha... Slightly similar story, 60 mph in a mk1 punto, pigeon came out and hit the drivers side headlight square on (was accidental, not like you mate :) and it quite literally exploded, and i mean exploded, blood and guts up the bonnet, windscreen and and a bit of entrails on the roof, all covered in feathers, instant death, slightly disturbing as i am an animal lover, but it's demise was rather cartoon-ish!

Well, i think the birds have it in for me. Was at the meet today with Brett300zx and Geedee when a bird tiook aim and shit right up my back and accross the entire length of my car. Couldn't have been more precise if it tried. Started purely up my back and finished on the rear spoiler of KITT.

i had my t-tops off a few years ago,,,when some bird poo landed on my windscreen,,a second later it would of been my head....
