now when i rang up the nice gentleman said that if i buy any other gauges from somewhere else i am likely just to have them light up and not have any function.... only problem is his gauges are a bit pricey :(

anyone know some fairly reasonable 52mm gauges that WILL work with my 300zx? or will any gauges?

looking for water temp, boost and oil pressure

cheers

I,ve just got a set of these , very impressed with the quality and functions they do , they go through a start up and shut down sequence , very trick .

Got mine through a seller on ebay , when i asked about more matching guages he sent me this link .

were they easy to fit and if i buy boost, water temp and engine pressure do they come with everything needed to set up?

Most guages come with the senders they need, however you will probably need a sandwich plate between the engine and oil filter to connect an oil pressure sender.

Gauges are generally easy to fit; You run the +12v, Ground and dimmer wires of each gauge together, then connect them to the corresponding wires on the car.

Mechanical boost gauges have a vacuum pipe that connects into the balance bar via a T pipe. Water temp is a single wire that you can solder onto the sender on the hard pipes at the front of the engine.

i looked at the prosports gauges and they really are nice! but at £120 doe 3 gauges its a bit steep this month with paying car and that. guess i will hold onto the thought of getting them as they really do look cool. especially with the start up ceremony

That's the ones I have mate, they do look good although the boost gauge is a mechanical one so doesn't have the opening ceremony. Also a bit hard to see in bright sun light.

was the mechanical boost gauge easy to install?

Very, it just connects to the vacuum line between the balance bar and the original sender. The gauge will come with the T piece for connecting it up.

I,ve not fitted them yet bud but it,s straight forward as each guage comes with a ready made loom and my boost guage is electric one so it also does the start and close sequence , i,ve got oil temp and pressure as well, gonna get a couple more for my A pillar pod .

I,m fitting an aftermarket cooling fan but don,t want one of those temperature switches that fits into the top hose to switch it on and off , with these light you can get a little exterior warning light that is controlled by the guage to go and off at what temp you set it to so i,m gonna use that function but not the light to trip a relay to control the cooling fan !! good eh
