im toying with the idea of buying a new loom for the zed . the alternative is to replace the coil pack connectors and injector connectors and gradually work through the others .

can the loom be replaced with the engine in or will it need to be pulled . if i can do it with the engine in then the new loom is gonna be the way to go . has anyone done this as any advice will be much appreciated .

cheers in advance

Engine in,pretty straightforward really-hardest bit is getting it through the bulkhead!

Are you getting a loom from the US?

Yeah the US ones are the way to go, it will be a bit long because its for a lefty but you can tuck it under the battery tray, my mate used to fit them and i am toying with the idea myself but i would be lazy and pay him :)

how long does it take and how much would he charge . is it just a straight forward plug and play or would it need to go on the conzult afterwards for a few adjustments .

He not longer trades anymore bud and only really does jobs for mates but i can always ask? would mean getting your car to swindon tho if he did.

Time wise im sure he said less than a day, unsure about consult tbh but cant see why it would going on it other than to check you have all the senors connected??

your mate wouldnt have any connection with Z tech would he,that long standing specialist In Swindon :whistling:

Its not a simple job, some people can or have done it with the engine in. But even with the engine out it is a bummer. Everything is straightforward to a degree if you can get the bracket off from behind the dash. We had to de pin one of the connectors to get everything through without putting to much stress on the wires.

I've done it with the engine in, took me the best part of a day just to get the old one out of the bulkhead, but as i didn't know what bracket i was looking for, could do that bit in well under an hour now second time, and the rest is pretty straight forward, apart from tha AIV and EGR plugs just were no long enough, which didn't matter anyways. you just have to be patient mate, and swot up on all the connectors furst so ya know what goes where... it's the best thing i've ever bought for my Z, before, ya repair one connector, another breaks or is gunked up...

As mentioned bud you do have to remove the glovebox and then i removed the aircon unit behind to gain easy access but i,ve junked the aircon anyway , heres the bracket that secures the loom to the inside of the bulkhead above the ecu,s ..

The offending bracket as seen once you pull the loom and grommet out in the engine bay

This is the aircon unit that,s behind the glovebox , as i said i removed mine easily cos i,ve junked the aircon , how you remove this when the pipes are still connected through the bulkhead i don,t know without draining and re-gassing the system . there, wasn,t enough room to try and reach up behind it to undo that bracket and release the loom off the inside of the bulkhead .
