been a bit busy today and started doing my plenum as i couldnt find no-one else who would do the work (even offered good money) i can see why no one else wants to do it though but here are some pics so far..........

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

as you can see i still got lots to do and still got to use paper with more grit than 240. (got various grades up to 1200)

 

but i am excited that it is coming together :)

Nice work mate, it will be worth it in the end, mine is polished to but its a pain in the butt trying to keep it looking that way with everything in the way especially if you have a strut bar also, or have fingers like matchsticks lol.

 

I am seriously thinking of having mine chromed then all it needs is a quick dust off

one thing that im glad i was sold is the Random Orbital Sander.... really is the precision of a normal sander with the speed of a belt sander.... really is amazing!

 

it is a pig and i even got my mates Dremel kit. but trying to sand in between the gaps is proving a pain and so having to do by hand :(

 

ive got until friday really as my car is ready to pick up next tuesday :) WOOOHOOO!!

 

D2 are doing an absolutely fantastic Job!! I can't recommend them anymore as i am blown away by darren and his assistant carl.

 

Smashing guys who Really know their stuff on the zeds. Ive always heard other so called zed mechanics from around my way trying to give advice that doesnt add up or have a go fixing my car and not solving problems but darren and carl know their stuff!

 

All i got to do is give them my plenum, MOT the car and then darren is going to diagnose my wide open throttle problem. will be nice to have a properly working zed for once

Could you sand blast it to get most of the roughness off and then finish off by hand ? Just a thought.

well my friend was meant to be getting his bead blaster fitted into his garage but its taking its time :(

 

can anyone suggest what else to use to get down the gaps between the chambers?

sand blasting only takes the dirt off of it. When i did mine, it didnt effect the texture of the plenum, at all.

Not sure if he is still there, but worth someone looking up, hes a french polisher and not a specialist in jost car bits, But does all sorts, did my skyline plenum rs turbo, RS 16001, plus many more,

bah! this thing is annoying me now. i have until friday to finish it. the sanding drum i used made newer scratches so i am having to go over it again :(

 

i wish i could just pay someone to sand it now >.

what sort of money did they charge?

done in a day., mine was £35 but proper and every crevas

nice! im guessing it will cost alot more for the 300zx plenum as it is larger and a pain :( but its worth me calling him. ill post how i get on tomorrow.
