Hi all,

I have a dead clutch on my 91 300zxtt and im hoping someone can offer some advice before I start buying new clutch parts?

Problems started when the clutch started slipping on boost in 3rd gear. This very quickly turned into 2nd gear as well and I realised I may well need a new clutch. It only gave me another day or so before it went completely giving me no clutch at all. Up until this point no fluid had dropped in the clutch reservoir so I had no reason to suspect it was anything other than a worn clutch. Upon parking it up I found a large patch of fluid under it.

Assuming the slave cylinder has now leaked is this a likely result of the clutch going or is it more likely the cause for all the clutch problems? If so where is the slave cylinder located as im still getting to grips with owning one of these and as yet have no manual.

Hope someone can help?

Cheers

Jay

The slave cylinder is on the right hand side of the gearbox next to the rubber boot for the clutch fork. If you have lost fluid, then you will have lost pressure. If you still have fluid in your reservoir, but have a leak of brake fluid on the floor, it may suggest a blockage or broken seal.

With no fluid pressure youre not able to disengage the clutch plate to change gear, so if this problem has been happenning over a period of time, its likely your clutch plate has worn as a result, causing the slipping.

Someon else might have a different take on it, but thats as i see it lol

thanks for the advice. Looks like I may need to replace both clutch and slave cylinder then! As it dumped all the fluid when it lost the clutch im thinking I might as well change that first just in case the clutch still has some life in it. I cannot seem to find a supplier for the slave cylinder in the UK though. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Cheers

For new, try MJP one of our traders here on the forum, secondhand JeffTT or post a wanted thread with what you are after, there may be someone on here that has one going.
