Hi All

I'm new here so hope you don't mind me pitching straight in with a question but I recently bought a 300ZX and I have found the performance to be adequate but a little less than I was expecting! The engine runs fine, no smoking or misfiring but she does seems a little bit slower than I would have expected from a 3ltr V6 twin turbo which has a reputation for going like sh*t off a shovel! Can any one suggest things I can check out - maybe a turbo problem?

Thanks in advance

Where to start? If anyone gives you a glib answer, smell the bull. These are immensely complex cars. Basic check is to do an ECU diag http://www.300zx.org.uk/diagnostics.htm

The performance from even a stock TT is phenomenal even for a 20 year old car so if you think something is "sluggish", something's wrong either with it or your expectations.

yep, do a diagnostic check, could be in safety mode, lower boost... have you got an aftermarket boost gauge?

Hi

Got a Conzult cable if your near chichester.

Welcome to plug it in and see what it shows up.

Hey guys

Thanks a lot for all of these replies! I don't have an aftermarket booster gauge but would be grateful for any help and I'm in Brighton so a trip to Chichester would definitely be on the cards, so Colin if you're up for it could you PM me your number?

Thanks again for all your advice - will keep you posted.

Cheers

Mick

i had thought the same when i first got my car but the power is so smooth u did not realize u have just flown by a s3 and scooby

As stated run an ecu check first, then its a process of fault finding.

Just one slight electrical problem with throw many other things out. Nice to see two other members local to me. Im just the side of worthing / littlehampton, i am able to assist if needed, plus have a good knowledge about zeds.
