hey all

I was checking fault codes after a misfire and see my ecu has mines on it?

misfire was sorted but im after some info on the ecu,it has only the standard boost gauge fitted so i cant tell what boost its putting out.

if you want to know what is going on with your mines ecu get in touch with Japan. I dont know of anyone in UK that can figure out a mines ecu as i have one but they are normally aggressively mapped for higher octane fuel but are very good tuners in Japan even though loads of people are against them on this forum and others.

The Mines ECU's come in various flavours. Typically aggressive for High octane fuel. Any of the UK ECU tuners can read them and tell you about the Map, but people dont tend to bother with them. Its easier just to replace an Unknown Mines chip replacement UK mapped chip (£50-£100)

I dont believe anyone is "against" them, its just that they tend to be mapped for the higher octane fuel that japan has available 100-102ron , which can cause issues with detonation with our lower octane fuel. and even if its one of the milder versions it just makes sense to replace an "unknown" with a "known" if concerned about it.

i take your point, my have to see what the tuner can get from it

I run with shell V power with mine (99 RON) and have had no problems but i do know what it has been mapped for

i use 97 ron as she seems fine on it and still goes well, would it also of changed the amount of boost?

I have a spare Mines ECU, in fact it's running in my car at the moment, runs very well too. Not got around to doing a direct comparison of the maps yet though.

Just had a blast on the way home from work and she will rev over 8grand

It won't rev for much longer if it does buddy :scared:

Stock rev limiter is 6800rpm, most aftermarket chips raise it to 7200rpm...................I would not reccomend doing 8k rpm lol

Neither would I......

......but it's your engine!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Lol no it's not sumthing I plan on doing, after finding about the ecu a friend said some of the them rev up to 8500 !

So I'm the interest of testing I give her some beans, I'm sure it would of gone off the rev limiter if I had let it.

So going to catch up with my mate next week and see if his gear can read the ecu and maybe replace it with a john dixon chip

Do you know what detonation sounds like ? because if you dont and your engine is doing it..............................it won't last long especially if you are driving it like you stole it. As stated here, Mines ECU have an aggressive map which requires 99 ron minimum. Don't say you didnt know.

can you give me an example of det?

the sound of det is like shaking a metal tin with ball bearings in it...its really not healthy for your engine at all.....lee:hammer:
