What's going on here lol, I've seen it on a few Z's in pics so I know it's not just me, the rear light centrepanel is out of line where it meets the driverside lens. It sticks out towards the rear about 2mm and really is beginning to cheese me off, I've tried removing the seal from behind, tightening up the nuts further nothing budges it! It can push in fine by hand but can't be tightened into place.. am I missing something simple?

See if the captive bolts in the rear panel have started to pull out - they are pressed & moulded in to the panel - if so try gently tapping them back so they are flush with some 2 pack glue like araldite to hold them in

see to take off the centre panel - you undo the 4 bolts at the rear, but what keeps it in place in the centre? poppers? I tried taking it off before but it felt like it was going to snap and didnt have a screwdriver handy to pry so gave up

I only took mine off yesterday - didnt pay much attention but thought there was more than 4 nuts? You sure you have found all of them?!

The nuts are all that holds it on but if its been off before someone may have run some sealant around it

Have a look at the light rather than the centre panel, just in case the sealing mastic behind the light is less thick in that area so the light unit is fitted unlevel.

Not a real known problem in that area, unless the rear panel has been repaired in the past maybe.

Thanks Jeff, had a check but the light itself is definately level, it just the right edge of the centrepanel.. I'll check out the online manual see if I'm missing one of the nuts! Thanks guys, will let you know of progress

theres four nuts and a little clip in the middle ,just squeeze togeter when pulling on the light hth

They can be a bit proud if the sealant as not been heated up enough and the front and back of it are not fully together, but it seems you have not took it apart.

The very outer nuts which are behind the lights trim on either side can be accessed without removing these fully, just prise it away a bit for access.

Make sure the centre popper goes fully home and then when you tighten a bit of a time the nuts just press carefully the centre panel in with your palm whilst you tighten each nut, should go nice and flush, don't over tighten though - just enough!!!
