I have just had my auto box rebuilt and I am not happy with the gear change at high revs. There is a lot of hesitaion and delay. Does anyone have the same problem? I am trying to find another Z owner with an auto box that is in good working order. I would like to ride passenger so I can compare it to mine - before I go back to the garage and reveal my unhappiness. I would appreciate any help with this. I am from the Swindon (Wilshire) area and are prepared to travel within reason.

I have a 1990 TT (jap spec)

Thanks,

Andy

I've a 1990 jap spec auto. Box has just been reconditioned by Silvia eng, with an upgraded line pressure etc. Works fine. If you want to come to Bishops Waltham (near Eastleigh) Hants, we can have a drive. My mobile is 07879 665412.

didn't it behave similar before the rebuild Andy ? or was it so bad that it needed work regardless ?

Is this not the standard practice for a normal auto gearbox ?

maybe the ALC is what you need, which i think most of the auto guys have already.

Doesn't it get rid of this problem ?

The standard box does not have a quick change and you might find it's normal. The ALC will massively speed up gear changes when pushing it. Bit of a trek for you but if you wanted to come to Crawley then I can take you out in mine which has standard box, 70,000 miles or so and HLC. Alternatively, come along to one of the meets ! Either at Craigs or a Run What Ya Brung as I go to many of them.

Many thanks to those who responded, in particular Paul (Coogs). After comparing his transmission to mine I have concluded that my box is not operating as it should be. Back to the tranny shop to complain.

Looks like it could be my TPS, Throttle position sensor. Does anyone know where I can get one from cheap? ..... or at least cheapish.

Try Luke or someone from the Z Club, to see if they have a quality used one, failing that it is either your Local Nissan Garage or North Texas Nissan.

Have you inspected the TPS and cleaned it ??

Try cleaning the contacts with Electrical Connection Cleaner first, Also check the spring before spending the money on a new one

Clean the TWO TPS connectors before replacing it - Properley. The connector is nearly always the problem when talking about TPS!
