Have you checked the oil what does it look like any metal shavings? a change and filter clean would be good to start failing that you could be looking at a recon or new box Sorry :(

oil is like new as was changed before going into storage, no shavings, waiting for Geoff at Zedworld to get back, possiblle stcky plate??

torque converter? & oil level

This could be worth looking at but its mostly a sign of a failing box i'm told

my mate had a similar problem on his Mitsubishi was that it didn't have enough fluid in it, so it went into failsafe,

and my old Z got stuck in first once, but reset the ecu and she was fine again

however if its failed id suggest a manual conversion, as the overhaul on my new auto Z cost a stupid amount. (previous owner had it done not me, id have gone manual)

Agreed if it is the box a manual conversion is the way to go!!

I cant go for the change to manual, at the mo,

i have had from new and full nissan s h,

i never gone abobe 5000revs until today trying to see why not going into 3rd,

ok anyone got a spare box??

ps torque converter was changed at nissan under the warranty at 25k, so shouldnt be that as now got 45k on it??

you deffintley checked the oil when the engine was running and warm yes?

i had this problem, too ended up manual conversion, worked out cheaper than a recon autobox

Just a thought, the rats hav`nt nibbled the auto box cables have they? may be why the box is not getting into third gear? check the auto box fuses
