Guessing game, we have seen a surprising rise in a particular fault with twin turbo zeds, all of the case we have dealt with are new owners having just purchased the zeds from garages usually sold as seen.

The latest zed in question been dealt with today is pictured below, starting with a simple plenum removal can anyone see what is wrong yet? will reveal more pictures in a bit, plenum had been off before and as we see many, many times the old (useless ) gasket had been used ....priceless eh?

oh and there is no known garages involved here so its just a little fun guessing game not who did that game!!

Enjoy

its got red injectors, they are n/a usually iirc.

Damm I should have said any one called jimmer is not allowed to answer !!and Mid-wales-zx! you were right too!

This is the fourth twin turbo we have seen this year alone with non turbo injectors fitted!!! possibly a sign of the times and engines been made up from broken one`s in back street garages!

Who ever did this one left it with huge air leak thanks to the old plenum gasket! bizzarley the injector seals look very new so why on earth not do the job right, thing is when the wrong injectors are fitted the engine will never run right.

why go to all that trouble then skimp on a ten pound gasket !! And surely youd see when you were swapping the injectors the old ones were a different colour and think "hang on a minute".I will keep out of further guessing posts in future to let the others have a go :smartass:

why would someone put n/a injectors on??

i assume they just changed them not knowing the difference?

as long as they havent sourced a NON TURBO block and strapped the turbos to it LOL

Mmm... always a worry.

might be a stupid question but my injectors are greenish not brown? are these wrong too?

Greenish? erm well depends on what the mapping in the ecu, a ConZult test would indicate what the ecu is expecting to be fitted.

How does that work then Jeff?

Would the colour coding issue (ie. Red = NA - Brown = Turbo) be standard across the board?

Only reason I ask, these are the NISMO 740's fitted to my TT and they are quite obviously 'Red' :sweatdrop:

As far as I can work out when conzult reads the ecu the injector size (cc) is something that the ecu map knows, so assuming that the car has had a suitable chip fitted for its injectors then you should know the injector size :chinese:

there you go another Zed with messed up injectors,

this is mine has 2 purple injectors??? and the other 4 are greenish??

i assume the 2 purple are sr injectors. but WTF?

purple are nismo 555s as far as i know but then again my s14 had purple ones but i belive these are of the later design
