Hi

I have a 1994 twin turbo 300 zx. The car feels like the turbos are not working on full power. They were replaced 12 months ago and the guy who I got the car off said he had the adjusted for economy. Is this correct??? Can anything be done??? It just seems a bit slow

economy, lol!? the only 2 ways you can go below stock boost of 9.5psi is either a) balls something up under the bonnet to make the ECU throw a code and go into safety boost (7psi), or b) deliberately create a leak somewhere

what does the boost gauge say when you're on full boost? (and does the gauge go up to 7 or 14?)

if youre not making full boost (full boost meaing the reading goes almost all the way to the right) then it could be either of the above causes, or perhaps a seized turbo. does it have dump valves fitted? any modifications?

It goes upto about 12 on the boost gauge. The car is totally standard apart from a specialy made exhaust. I have decided to sell it on anyway. I am sure someone will give me £1000 for it!!!

Hi The actual boost goes upto 14 when you are driving and the gauge says 14. Sorry I thought you meant the actual gauge!!! I have just been and seen a man who has had a few. He told me that this is how fast they go. I am just a little disapointed, I thought they would be faster as standard. To be fair my previous car was a 510bhp RS4 and maybe I am comparing to much, even though they are totally different cars.

The stock gauge is famously unreliable.

Although the others above are incorrect when they say it should go to 14, it should go to just over 2 lines below that if its stock boost.

Standard performance figures are around :

5.5 secs 0-60 mph

14 secs 0-100 mph

top speed of 155 mph limited (170'ish unlimited)

To be fair my previous car was a 510bhp RS4 and maybe I am comparing to much, even though they are totally different cars.

276bhp vs 510bhp

I'd still rather a Zed tho

Yep defo not as fast as the V8 RS's, althought you could spend a few ££££'s and easliy get to 500bhp and still be quids in on the price of the Audi's, plus you won't have the dodgey hydraulic suspension system on the RS4/6's. Miss my RS6 Plus but don't miss the regular visits to the dealer!

Sell it and let someone enjoy it thats going to appreciate it for what it is. Then buy another Audi. ;)
