Anyone know anything about Triumph Dolomites? This is my Question to you!

I have had my 300 a long time now (3years this month) and i am getting abit bored of it now i must say! Parts are stupidly expensive and i find i can only do normal mechanical tasks whereas on our cars at work i have the confidence to do more and more (rebuilt an engine and changing gearboxes which seems to becoming an almost weekly thing) I feel i will be selling up soon once i get round to touching up the interior and getting its new mot this week.

So i have been on the prowl so to speak for a groovy RWD car with a budget of MAX 3k (although im certain i can get 3500+ for mine) and i just fell in love with the Dolomite Sprints and feel i will have no issues using all my mechanical skills on that car to make it amazing! So i was wondering on your thoughts and if you have any useful info on those cars (Or any good ones you know for sale)please feel free to share :)

Many thanks

Munny

All I know is since my mate called it a Dollop-o'-Shite the name kinda stuck.

Cracking cars mate, but if you think zeds parts are pricey, sprint parts are more, and far less around.

If you are after a fast RWD car, look around for a mk 2, escort 2 door. a few quid, and it can have an rs 2. ltr lump in no worries. but getting rarer to find good ones.. Plus still loads of parts around

Or a RWD corolla, of old stlyle startlet with a ford engine swap.

first thing to spring to mind, there is a white modded one near me though looks the part for sure

Dolomites suffer from rust really bad,the suspension mountings dissolve basically. The gearbox iirc is removed from inside the car !! which is strange and the stag V8 was apparently devised by siamesing two dolomite engines.Nice cars in the day but overshadowed by the RS 2000.Brave man to take one of those on. I would put the dolomite in the same group as the lotus sunbeam, and chevette hsr, great cars when someone else owns it :thumbup1:

I should have said really i know they suffer badly from rust which is why i am looking for one that has been made for Hillclimbing as they need to have a 100% solid shell and the engine may have taken a beating but its always cheaper to fix cars engine that fix bodywork! So i feel a hillclimb one would be best to eliminate the rust issue and just do what i can with the engine or pay for services!

Id fancy a mk2 escort but i like to have a something different and i just really like the look of the little dolomites :)

In my eyes this is sex

Thanks for the input so far guys :)

My dad's mate used to drop us off at Scouts circa 1982 in his Dolomite. All I can really remember is the smell of the vinyl seats and the windows having massive condensation problems whenever the weather turned bad. Chamois sponge is a must.
