I just had one of those moments.....

 

.... drove an absolutely immaculate red ferrari 599GTB down the motorway from Citywest (outside Dublin) to Naas and back. My God what a thrill. One of only two in the country from an apparently very limited production run.

 

Power - savage but controllable (obviously with traction control turned on)

Gear change - instant paddleshift (fastest ever on a production car apparently taken from the ferrari 2004 F1 car)

Braking - immediate

Styling inside - absolutely gorgeous

Styling outside - absolutely gorgeous

Drive - fantastically smooth

 

Did I give it the beans - absolutely! No wheel spin with the traction on.

 

I really couldn't put a sentence together when I was driving it. Only single words at a push - WOW, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE.

 

Just thought I'd share, with people of a similar disposition.

Yes just like that - a beautiful ferrari red.

 

Interestingly 19" wheels on the front and 20" rears.

A guy (Kevin) I have gotten to know lately used to own Sports & Prestige cars over here. I'd say he sold more Supercars during the boom than any other supplier in the South. We know quite a few of the same people. Turns out that the owner of this car was involved in a relatively successful racehorse with me a couple of years ago. He is also friends with Kevin, so asked Kevin to collect it for him in Spain and bring it back to Dublin. He had to put some petrol in it this evening, told me to hop out at the petrol station. I was thinking that was the nod for me to fill her up, but instead he told me to sit in and take over...

 

I have drove a Ferrari 355 and a Lotus Espirt in the past and being a passenger in the Lambourghini Diablo. Lest we not forget the 300zx either, which is a supercar ! (I feel a debate coming on). This was by far and away the most impressive, hands down. The Lambo had absolute raw brute power, but the GTB was just so powerful but yet so smooth. A totally different feel. Everything about driving it, seemed so effortless. I always felt in control even when the needles were pointing in directions where they don't often point.
