Bought Dremel 4000 for £100 from B&Q 2 days latter its dead. Whats crap is it was the last one in stock at my B&Q and if I buy one elsewhere will just be a PITA returning it when that one burns out in another 2 days.

 

Everything these days is expensive crap!

i started with a flapper wheel on a 4" grinderette. That'll get to the majority of rough surface off.

Then i worked down through the different grades of emery cloth.

when i polished a plenum i used polishing wheels on a electric drill

Yeah you need a drill to do most of it. big job for a little dremal

Like the other guys have said use a grinder with 120 grit sanding disc 4 inch or 6 inch what ever you have. Used that to get out the dimples and casting marks then use a dia grinder with 3 inch and 2 inch sanding disc to get in most of the tight areas then its down to your fingers wrapped in wet and dry to get it smooth enough to start polishing it.

 

As above, plus, you can buy a dremmel copy with all the bits from maplins for about £20, infact i use that more than my dremmel. And i just bought a polishing kit with all the wheels and compound blocks from Halfords for £16.99.

 

The dremmel bits are a ridiculous price, i bought a 2pk of fibre wheels and lasted about 5 mins each, so i would forget the dremmel route apart from the little nooks and crannies you cant reach.

I think its better, more robust than a dremmel and it doesnt need an additional power supply, it also has speed control, so a no brainer for the money lol

All by hand? are you mad:hammer: i cant be arsed, i will use any tool i can get my hands on to get it done. Admittedly the wet and dry needs doing by hand but not as bad as doing it all by hand:laugh:

zedwizz, ya should get your LED's from CPC, dirt cheap for anything electrical, i mean anything.... (just incase ya didn't know about the place.... my dad's an electromedical engineer, i used to be too, it's the cheapest place, maplins is a rip off)

I'm talking to few companies in Hong Kong atm about supply and price for the componets to make the LED lights
