Hi,

Ive bought a second hand AEM ecu and im having trouble working out how its wired.

Do all AEM ecu come with the AFR sensor? The reason being ive only 1 sensor, but ive also got the AEM AFR guage that comes with a AFR sensor.

Am i right in thinking that i have a sensor missing or can i wire the guage to read the ECU output if i plug the sensor into the ECU?

Cheers Dan

I think that you should use the aem ecu sensor (if same kind of the gauge - think maybe lsu4 or something - use the best looking one) and then feed the gauge with ecu signal.

Or you can use both at same time but only one on the ecu.

I really haven't looked at z32 ecu's yet so i don't even know if the stock ones are wideband or not... nor i have ever had a car with dual exhaust. So apart from the dual exhaust thing you can use it either way, just make shure that the aem ecu uses it's own wb sensor.

Ah! and also don't forget to calibrate the wb sensors first and every 6 months or so.

Yeah you need that I believe, I certainly had to put one in on mine. Basically you remove the MAF sensor. Put two air filters directly on the pipes that would normally go into the MAF removing the stock unit. Then fit the sensor into one of the hard pipes going into the car air intake.

To get a good air tight fit on the sensor we drilled a hole in the hard pipe after we had flattened the spot out a bit with a round hammer. Then used some shpaed washers and some gasket sealent and tightened it all up. Make sure that you put it in close to one end of the hard pipe so you can get your hands in there to tighten it up.

You can see a picture of where mine is here http://www.project300tt.com/2010/05/24/all-together-now/

That will be your MAP sensor surely fella? Dan's asking about his AFR one ( air fuel ratio)

I think i may of confused a few peeps here sorry.

My problem is ive only got 1 AFR sensor when i think i should have 2.

I know the guage comes with 1 sensor but im not sure if the ECU comes with one too as its essential for the ECU to have the AFR reading to run the engine.

I rang my local tuners today and found out it is possible to use only 1 sensor it just needs alot of messing about with wiring from the guage to the loom.

Thanks for your help anyway guys im just got to try and find out where and how the MAP sensor and inlet temp needs to be wired to now lol.

ideally you want the dual UEGO setup so you can have 2 wideband sensors.

madmax is referring to the ait sensor which you want near the throttle body

I'm sorry for my lack of experience in dual o2 sensor engines.

I have tuned many honda engines na, turbo, itb, compressor... etc

I use the lm1+lma3+stock ecu (afr, egt, spark plugs temp, etc) on my previous crxs and itrs but always as a single exhaust setup.

Lucky my innovate kit can be scaled to 24 devices! :)
