Hi, my HICAS LIGHT is on as well as ABS.

The steering seems heavier as well but there is some assitance still, as it wont move when swticehd off. This problem was interminttent and dissapeared when I switched the engine off, now its permanent!!

Yup, as slowhand said, check your power steering level.

 

I take it you have an early series TT ??

i had this a while ago go to the Big fuse box in the engine bay at lower left and ill tell you which one it is IIRC its the ENG CONT fuse

 

Just a small 10amp fuse and it had wiggled out but this might not be your solution but who knows!

 

Just replace or wiggle it in place :) It could well be this :)

 

Also do your Electric windows not work??? I think this was another symptom i had when this problem arose

 

Also to the other comments it the PAS fluid was low his ABS wouldn't pop up as well
