Auto Box Price and Manual Box Price - Wanted

If I have to pay for rebuild I may as well go and have a manual box........

How much for a manual box, who has one in good condition?

Hi Matty!!

Manual 'box prices are £250-£500 as a guess, but you need other stuff with it.

Speak to one of the Andys (I can't remember which one LOL) to get a list of all other items.

Or see this thread http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum5/HTML/001211.html because guy has just started breaking a 300zxTT MANUAL.

Hope this helps,

Robert.

P.S. Join the manual club, you know it makes sense biggrin.gif

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.

This was my list of bits :-

Gearbox

Gear lever

New leather gear lever boot

Master cylinder

Slave cylinder

All hydraulic pipework

Pedal box

Flywheel

Pressure plate

Clutch disk

Throw out bearing

Front half of the propshaft

The plate that sits between engine & gearbox

Wiring loom for the reverse & neutral gearbox switches

Both clutch servo vacumn tanks + pipework

I would also recommend replacing all the cheap rubber bits like dust seals and so on, plus the shifter bushing plus get the gearbox overhauled before you fit it (unless you drove the car with the new gearbox already)

Oh, and don't forget fill it with decent oil (that's another £60+)

Box I have enquired about has done 56k and comes with everything apart from the Clutch Master Cylinder.

Am just awaiting price.

Just thought of two other things it's really worth doing at the same time, rear gearbox mount and prop centre bearing. They both cost, but it's better than being back in the workshop a week later.

And make sure you have a decent clutch, mine is beginning to slip I think - an auto engine puts a bit more torque though it than a standard manual.

Cheers Guys!!

Am going down the manual route.

AndyP,

All the bits you listed are in with the kit. The box will be overhauled also. New Clutch disc and pressure plate will be used not the old ones.

How much were you charged for fitting?

Rob,

Cheers for the information matey, contacted Ken and everything is sorted. Nice one!!

Also, don't forget to swap the spigot bearing that sits in the end of the crankshaft.

The auto / manual spigot bearings have different diameters.

I'm guessing that the gearbox input shaft bearing would wear out very quickly if this was overlooked!

Hope it goes well Topsquads!

I'm converting mine over this weekend/next week.

Do you know anyone with a second hand alternator loom of a manual? that's the only bit i'm missing now, and don't really want to stump up the £250 for it from nissan.

Cheers.

Matty, could I also chuck in a little wisdom;

Fill up that new manual tranny with Redline MT90.

Ill get you the number if you want the stuff mate smile.gif
