As above??

I don't have his number. But just to balance things out. He did a load of work for when he took it over from Ryan. He came across as a genuine guy who was trying very hard to deliver a good service.

I judged him to be an honest guy at the time and a blessing when compared to the way his predecessor left affairs.

OK. this was in 2008 and many things could have changed in his circumstances since then... but for all the good work he did for me, feel obligated to give him a 'prop.

Edited by Boomin33

agreed, in '08 Chris did come across as a very genuine and helpful guy hence why I trusted him with my car. As far as I am led to believe, through no fault of his own, his circumstances changed for the worse in '09.

I recieved a phonecall from Chris and told to collect my car before the baillifs came around to Ztech premises.

Down to Swindon I went and managed to get the zed onto the trailor (I even lent the trailor to him that day to help him out with shifting other customers zeds).

A very sombre day for all, but he promised to finish my car as soon as he got back on his feet....which was great because I'd just been stung for a shit load of money by another company (in excess of £20k lost through a dodgy import company).

I'd given Chris £10k to sort out my zed (I bought/swapped his engine with mine, some rims & tyres had some parts fitted plus bought some engine management etc, plus made a deal for some fabrication work to be done etc), now I need to talk with him in person to discuss all of the above.

After my last request in 2010 for a contact number Chris phoned my house to say that he and/or his old mechanic Mick, would finish the work that he had already been paid for.......the problem is I can't get hold of him (Chris) and have had no reply to any emails, texts, voicemails etc.

All I want is the work that I've already paid for completed, I'm not going to slate him or hold a grudge because there's no point.

My car was perfect when I dropped it off and never missed a beat, hence why there's some lucky sod out there with my old lump powering their zed.

Whereas mine has been sat, undriveable for the past 3 years!

hence why I'm asking for a recent contact number

Had unfortunate dealings with Ryan and old Ztech, never met Chris or had any dealings with him......have to say though.....its amazing how similar they both seem !!!

Has anyone seen them both in the same room at the same time !? :x:

Jap.slapper, what actually needs doing on your zed to get it road worthy mate?

In a nut shell......a lot! but to be quite frank, all I want is for Chris to look at the e-mails and pics that he sent me from when we were discussing me buying his engine back in '08, then I want him to look at the spec list that he featured in Total Nissan from that same year (of which he gave me the copy showing 'my engine'; which I'm looking at right now), then I want him to look at the lump that's sat in my engine bay (pictured below) and compare them.

Now to be fair to Ztech, they have never declared that the car was finished and I would hope that they would have ensured that everything was sorted had the circumstances faired differently

as it stands I have a bare shell up on stands on my drive (apart from the engine/trans soon to be removed) with sub frames stripped, all of which are going for sand blasting locally within the next week or so

all of the other parts have had to be stripped off the car and are now in storage, these will be re-fitted (by myself!) once the car is back from having the cage welded in and painted.

I have some issues where a number of these parts, when fitted by Ztech, weren't fitted correctly in as much as there were nuts missing off some components whilst others were not tightened, however I understand that the car was never declared finished and I'm assuming that all of these issues would have been sorted prior to me putting my kids in the car!

I had some reservations last year about the engine but when Chris phoned my house he offered to strip the engine in front of me and show me in person the forged internals, and that is exactly what I want him to do.

The engine will be coming out very shortly, all witnessed and documented on video so there's no chance of it being suggested that it's not the engine that Ztech supplied, then we can discuss what needs doing. With regards to a lot of the work, I'm not overly arsed because it's been stripped for track, so I have no requirement for leather interior or bespoke seat rails, I'll just put it down to mis fortune on both our parts. However one place where I refuse to budge is on the engine that I bought off Ztech.

I want to know 100% that I have what I am supposed to have before I go spending any more money on it

Direct quote from Total Nissan Magazine:

Ztech feature-

Engine specification:

3.0 ltr V6, 24 valve, variable valve timing, twin turbo.

Re-bored block with 20 thou' oversized JE-Arias forged pistons

Carrillo Super A-beam forged con rods

ARP Cylinder head and main stud bolt kit

New valves re-seated with new hydraulic lifters

complete lower engine balance (crank, flywheel, pulleys with rods, pistons)

Full Nissan engine gasket set

New EFI wiring loom

New oil and water pump

Nismo thermostat

Cometic steel head gasket

Power Enterprises kevlar timing belt with Nissan V belts

Nissan series 2 Power transistor unit

Z1 Motorsport 3rd stage clutch and lightened and balanced flywheel

Set of 4 Unorthodox Racing lightened and balanced pulleys

Samco hose kit with plenum water bypass

2 x Garrett T3 GT675-RS Roller bearing turbos

Labree 5 bolt aluminium divorced down pipes

Nismo 740cc injectors with lower plenum

1995 fuel rail and connectors

Now I already know that the wiring loom is not new, which I was of the understanding that it would be and was sent pictures as such which is again another kick in the teeth when I re-read the article and it states the following....

(Ref fitting of a new wiring loom following an engine rebuild)

Quote from Chris "We consider this to be an essential component for change during an engine build"

(Ref the set of 4 Unorthodox Racing pulleys)

There are only 2?????

The pics that I recieved by email showed the full set of 4, and the spec list states 4 however there are only 2 fitted to the engine in my car, now I'm sure that this effects the belt length required (or not)????

There are a number of differences, there are no braided lines on my engine shown in the pics, water intake/outlet pipes are different????

However I understand that Mick was working on a lot of cars at the same time and may have missed bits/fitted the wrong parts, I don't know but I just want to speak to Chris about it and sort something out

looks to be 3 fitted to the car the bottem pully is a two part pully system

small pully fitted to main is driving the aircon ...

but like u said the pully hasnt been changed on the AC pump looks standard to me

Well... Considering the story of the demise of Chris's Ztech... The fact he worked with you to get your car and the fact you have all the bits... I wouldn't be surprised if he mostly considers "job done"

It's like when someone owes you Money. The reality is that with ever month that passes, the less they actually think they own you the money ( STRANGE, THAT??? )... anyway years down the road it's like a huge, huge, huge favour they are doing you to give you even a portion of the money. 85% of the time you will never get anything back, despite promises.... too much time has passed.

When Ryan went down, I had a similar phone call from him (Come get your car before it's gone). I was there the next day. When I asked where my Gold Brembo's, my Nismo bumper, + some other bits were??? I got a blank stare.. and a "better take what you can now"

I'm pretty happy with what I got ( the car in my picture below )... it could have easily dissappeared in parts.

I know one guy lost his whole car... I had seen it down there a month earlier, and took a ride in it, (Red one with a loud as F*ck and fast as F*ck power plant ) but... it was a victim of Ryan stripping it and giving parts to other people he owed money to.

SO. AT least you have your car and it's bits... Need to find a new place to do the work TBH. I imagine both Chris and Mick have now closed this chapter. Just my Opinion based on 20 years of dealing with small businessmen and their trials/tribulations of making a go of it. Tuning Garages are one of the worst offenders. imo

**I know I said good things about Chris (above)... but temper it with the fact that I was practically customer Number1 for him after he gave Ryan £10,000 for the ZTECH BRand and some crap lying around the shop. !!!!??????!!??!? -= fool.

He knew I had got ripped off a bit by Ryan and went way out of his way to make it right in the hope to revampt the ZTech Reputation. I always told him that I'd say great things about ZTech for this service.

** and Hey... 3 years on... the rebuilt top-end is holding together pretty well... even under 534bhp. .... although it you look at the video from Japfest, I'm about to post... it's the left Bank he rebuilt that seems tob e giving off a lot of black smoke under heavy boost ..... :whistling:

I would say the bottom pully could be classed as 3 (so plus the other one thatrs 4 in total)? It looka to be capable of driving 3 belts although there are only 2 on there.

The bottom part is 1 piece, yes I can see that you can run 3 belts off it but still it is 'a' (ie. one) pulley surely?

and though it's not Ztech's problem that I never recieved my RX7 from a particular cnut of an import company...

Ztech were fully aware that I had just been ripped off and promised a good honest service.

All I want is for them to finish what they started and give me the engine I paid for.

Aye yeah fair play, sometimes though things are classified differently to you might expect. Not defending anyone just out of curiosity.

Sorry rub salt in the wound, but dam that was an epic looking RX7... I might need a few minute alone now!

I had the (dis)-pleasure of dealing with Chris/Mick in July 2009, soon after I bought my Z.

After I bought the car, I found that it was not running smoothly and lacked power.

Although both seemed decent at the time, they told me:

1. There was a possible problem with the ECU;

2. The timing belt had been installed wrongly, which needed to be re-done.

3. My rear springs were broken, and the shocks also needed replacing.

A week later, a visit to Jeff resolved all of the problems:

1. Jeff found the timing to be wrong, and corrected it within minutes.

2. Springs were fine, but the shocks were replaced.

Since then, the car has driven brilliantly for the last 2 years.

Summary : Chris and/or Mick were either hugely incompetent (which I doubt) or were ripping me off.

They also took £80 for the privilege of spending 2 hours giving me bs.
