Bit of a strange question this, but here go's:

Does anybody own/or know somebody who owns a Z32 TT that was down at ZTECH about 2 years back (before they moved) having a replacement engine fitted?

I believe it was on Northern Ireland plates: 'OIL ----'

That would be a long old (not to mention costly) drive from NI, just to get a replacement lump dropped in.

Maybe the guy who owns it lives this side of the water now?

I was just curious as to how much he was charged for the engine and what other work he had done at the same time

Yes mate, i remember the car well. What would you like to know?

Previous nightmare customer / owner of ours, now owned by a customer and friend of ours.

The plates origin doesn't mean anything now days as mine is an FLZ plate but has resided on it since 2001, Corley, Lancashire, and since 2003 here in Grantham, Lincolnshire with me :D

My old VG30DETT engine was removed from my 'Z' and taken px against Chris' (ZTECH) rebuilt engine?

(This engine is being stripped down shortly to confirm what's what).

If I remember correctly the car that my old engine went into had the VRN: OIL----

I remember being a bit peeved' at the time as I'd paid Chris a shit load of cash up front and for months my car sat in one corner whilst my 'new' engine sat in the other not making much pogress; even though my old engine had been whipped out, sold, fitted into another car and moved on pretty quick.

As my car was never finished and had to be trailored off the old premises, I'm just a bit concerned that the ZTECH website has recently gone offline.

There are isues that I need to resolve but don't have an address or current contact number for Chris.

All advice has been taken on board, and it's very much appreciated.

I'm reserving judgement until I speak face to face and can confirm all facts.

I know it sounds familiar, but it would be interesting to know what was bought, what was paid and by who and when.

Just wondering if anybody has a copy of TOTAL NISSAN magazine that ran a feature on ZTECH back in 2008 I think it was

Edition 2 I believe (has a picture of the JAPSPEED drift car on the front cover)

If so could they post up the engine spec list????

Are yer sure it was his engine mate.

A couple years back a bloke who was on his 2nd project had an SE built engine and thousands of pounds of new parts to be fitted, he done a deal whereby Chris swapped engines and took his parts of his hands. This meant the bloke could then sell an almost stockish Zed in working order and off load all the parts he built up, about 12k's worth.

Oh think yer better of trying to find all those pissed with ztech and dealing with matters as a group!

This is what I need to establish before ripping faces off, did I or did I not get the 'all singing all dancing' gucci engine, built up of new forged parts/turbo's etc that is featured in TOTAL NISSAN.

I paid £8,000 up front for the engine (px with my old engine), and handed over an extra £2,000 at the same time, on additional parts (AEM EMS, TEIN coilovers + EDFC etc)

If the engine in my car isn't the same as the engine featured in TOTAL NISSAN; and also shown in the e-mail pics sent to me, then heads will roll!

Too right matey, after spending that amount of cash i would feel the same!!!

My whole car situation is getting f***ing ridiculous!

I've now spent well in excess of £50,000 on two different cars since Jan '08 and still don't have a driveable car to show for it (and even that figure is sadly a bit on the conservative side)

I hate the fact that a lot of people generally think that because you are polite and well mannered, that you can be taken for a mug

Stupid, stupid people :cursing: they'll just have to learn the hard way

Mate, Just got back from training and started following this topic.

There I was complaining about £450. I am so sorry to hear the troubles you have had. Once you have your facts, I am more than willing to go with you guys and show you where this GREAT AND TRUSTED BUSINESSMAN lives!!!!!

Of the £50k+ that I've forked out, Chris had £10k (for his rebuilt engine, AEM EMS & TEIN coilovers + EDFC)

Now I can't/won't say at this point that the engine in my car is not the engine that was featured in TOTAL NISSAN, and I don't want to come across as if that is fact or what I am suggesting.

I am however more than a little concerned that the ZTECH website has been closed down and haven't been able to get hold of Chris since last year.

My car was never completed even though it was at ZTECH from Oct '08 until ZTECH moved last year; when I had to go pick it up on a trailer (not exactly how I pictured my 'Z' reunion after handing over £10k)

It was agreed that my car would go back to ZTECH to be finished, once they had re-established the business at Chris' home and once I'd got back from

Afghan late '09.

The car never went back to ZTECH; maybe e-mails addresses have changed, maybe phone numbers have changed, I don't know, but I've never had a reply?

Which is a shame as I always found Chris to be a decent enough bloke...

The deal was £8k + my engine for the magazine featured engine (+ £2k for the other parts mentioned).

It was agreed that the fitting of the aftermarket parts that I had already bought to go on my 'Z', would be inclusive and fitted by ZTECH at the same time as the coilovers (these included brakes, HICAS eliminator, front & rear upper arms, traction arms, strut braces, anti roll bars,

tension rods, boost controller, turbo timer)

I'd bought a set of Volk Racing rims to replace the set of brand new BK Racing rims & tyres that were already fitted.

I agreed to trade the BK Racing rims & tyres for the fitting of my carbon seats (which I dropped off after the initial deal was made) + (how I heard it)

a set of leather door cards.

(though apparently the leather door cards weren't agreed on and I'd agreed to trade a brand new set of rims ad tyres just for fitting a pair of seats? Not sure about that, but regardless...the seats were never fitted so it doesn't really matter a f**k I suppose eh)

I have no way of checking that the engine internals are forged Carrillo rods/Arias pistons etc, without stripping the engine down, which leaves me with a dilemma.

I've never stripped down a VG30DETT and don't really want to remove it from the car, just to check that the parts are all as listed in TOTAL NISSAN.

Not too keen on letting my car out of my sight now if I'm honest

Any suggestions????

Very, very difficult to gauge anything from these two pics but

This is what I paid £8k for

This is what is fitted (any braided hoses have been fitted by myself recently)

I'm finding all sorts of little surprises.....and they aint good surprises either!

Pity the first pic is not higher resolution, the cas timing looks very retarded in the first pic but less so in the second and the second pic shows the later inlet cam pulley sprockets but the earlier cas unit?

I've just been speaking to Chris on the phone for the last hour or so and have been reasured that the engine that was fitted into my car back in '08 is his own engine that was featured in TOTAL NISSAN magazine.

I explained to Chris that following my recent bad experience with importing a 600bhp RX7 through another UK based company; and subsequently losing £20,000 as a result, I couldn't help but be concerned when doubts were raised over the authenticity/credentials of the engine that I'd bought off him. As I hadn't recieved any reply and the fact that the ZTECH website had been closed down, I began to have serious doubts in my mind and feared that I had been ripped off yet again.

Chris has offered to drop the subframe and remove the sump to prove that the forged internals etc are as they should be, just to put my mind at ease.

The fact that Chris attempted to get in touch with me immedietly, and didn't hide away and bury his head like the other spineless f***er did, says a lot in my eyes and go's a long way to reassure me that what he is saying is genuine.

He has explained his reasons for not replying sooner, and for my car not being finished after ZTECH moved.

I won't go into Chris' personal circumstances as it's certainly not my place to do so, but I will say that I understand completely that certain things outside of his control contributed to the failing of ZTECH and that aspects surrounding the business' failure aren't as black and white as they initially may appear.

Chris has said that he will see that the work is completed and that he always intended to do so.

I have no reason to doubt this and can appreciate that circumstances with the banks got out of control and he could do nothing to prevent this.

The stresses and strains have affected other aspects of his life; and this alone would be enough to break most people so some consideration of this fact might not go amiss if you feel it to be appropriate.

I can't speak for other people on their experiences with Chris and ZTECH as I don't know the full facts from both sides, however I am reserving judgement and can only go by what I know.

I have asked to sit down with Chris face to face and discuss a detailed plan of action with regards to the completion of my car.

Chris has agreed to this and I have full confidence that everything will be sorted in the near future and I hope that things do take a turn for the better for all concerned.

Sorry to say this matey, but i have seen, and been a part of this sort of thing. There are many garages out there to claim they know the 300 like "the back of my hand". I have heard many bad reports of "ZTECH", but this not the only "bad" garage out there. I was sucked into a similar ordeal as you matey, but with a bit less money. The thing that really grinds me is, these people know who they are, and they properbly will read this and think, "so fooking what, i got your money". That boils me to the bone, but hey, will all remember and never forget. Justice is ours.

Point taken mate totally, however I have to give Chris a fair chance to put things straight and finish the job that I paid him for.

People generally don't set out to fail and I can empathise with his current situation.

To be fair he could have quite easily washed his hands of it and gone down the old 'ZTECH doesn't exist any more, therefore I don't have to do jack' route, but to his credit, he hasn't.

Chris/ZTECH aren't going to finish the work, the work will be done elsewhere under negotiation with Chris but overseen by myself.

I have literally no contingency funds set aside for duplicted effort, therefore I am willing to give the guy some slack to come good on the deal.

He has always been up front with me; despite going AWOL for a few months and being un-contactable, the fact that he phoned me straight off once he realised how concerned and pissed I was; to explain himself, says a lot in my opinion.

If I get bitten again, then I'll accept that I was wrong and will openly admit it, but to write the guy off as a complete c**t without giving him a chance to redeem himself when all things are considered would be wrong.

we'll see how it go's but I am confident......
