Does anyone know if these are available at a reasonable cost? Just want to be able to switch between 2 SATA drives. Am I right in saying you can swap between 2 operating systems?

y would you want a switch you would ussally install one o/s or have that on one hdd. then install other harddrive turn pc on boot of cd install other o/s and then on start up of pc once second o/s has installed you will have a boot loader screen

I'm basically looking for a really easy way (flick of a switch) to be able to boot into 2 different drives/operating systems. Would a switch on the power wires work so I could choose which drive to boot from when the machine is off?

why not have your 2nd OS on a USB removable HD and change boot select to goto usb first...then if you dont want to boot from that OS then pull the USB cable and then it will go to second bootable device using your other OS

Would prefer to make which ever is the slave drive non accessible if possible. That's why I thought maybe a switch on the power cable to the drive so I can switch between the 2 or have both on.

its going to have to be a compromise mate, what you want will cost and may fook your machine whereas the USB wont descrimiate in one way of using it but will cost bugger all

 

worried about the Feds mate? :D

 

that said why not take the 12v line and put it through a toggle switch mounted to the case, then cut the 12v to the drives and wire one in to each side of the switch, make both master drives then only one can have power at any one time....99p from maplins i reckon :D

its very easy to do install the older os 1st then the newer on the 2nd drive and so on.
